I don’t think it has a battery I have it connected to the OBD II Port using only two pins so the “park mode” is activated there are lots of options in park mode you can set the cameras to record by G-Force low / med / high the adapter also has a setting that monitors your battery and shuts down the camera if your vehicle battery is below a certain voltage so it doesn’t drain too low to start your vehicle there are so many setting options I honestly haven’t explored all of it’s capabilities

I'm interested in your experience with the Park Mode with it connected to the OBD II Port.

I'm still experimenting with mine and it isn't clear to me if it loses power when the vehicle is shut off and/or the door is opened, or if the mirror still gets power, but is smart enough to "switch off"?

This OBD hardwire kit for car dash cameras is crafted with high quality, ensuring superior voltage regulation and consistent performance.
Wide Campatibility - Hardwire kit for WOLFBOX dash cam or other device powered by Type-C port, 5V/4A steady output, voltage input supports from 12V-24V
24-Hour Monitoring: The WOLFBOX hardwire kit provides continuous power to the dashcam even when the vehicle is off, allowing for round-the-clock parking surveillance
Installation Location - The most common location of the car OBD interface for the driver is the lower left of the trim panel under the steering wheel. However, the location of the OBD will be slightly different depending on the origin and model year of the vehicle. Some are above the accelerator pedal, or near the driver's side fuse box, some are in front of the shift lever, etc. Please choose the most suitable location for installation
Low Voltage Protection - When the car is turned off the voltage below 11.8V or 23.7V the recording will continue within 5 minutes, and the power will be turned off after 5 minutes

The parking mode works great if the voltage of your battery drops below a certain level it simply shuts down the DashCam to extend the time the park mode is available you can go to settings and adjust the recording based on time or by G-Force so it only records if it senses something

This line: "The WOLFBOX hardwire kit provides continuous power to the dashcam even when the vehicle is off" makes me wonder if the OBD port is therefore not going to provide power when the vehicle is off?

On this page they provide more clear info, but the "clarity" is really just "it depends":
https://wolfbox.com/blogs/dash-cams/obd-ii-port-or-hardwire-for-parking-mode

OBD vs. hard wired:

CompatibilityWorks on most cars, but not all keep OBD-II powered when offCompatible with nearly all vehicles

Anyway, I'll find out eventually as I play with it.

I feel like Wolfbox doesn't document their products super well. Most advertising with little "step by step" guidance. Which is fine, not a big complaint, more of a personal preference.

My WolfBox DashCam is powered by the OBD II Port when my vehicle is off I set my dash cam in screen saver mode so the screen is not illuminated to draw attention to it for lack of a better term it’s in stealth mode. This applies to the Maverick I can not speak of other makes and models - I’ve tested this several times at night after I turned the vehicle off for several hours by stepping on the rear bumper the camera activated so I know it works the way I wired it

Yes, this is what I was wondering. Perfect!

I have had basically no time to play with it. Well, I could run out on my lunch break and play with it, but the temperature dropped below freezing here literally while I was doing the install, so I'll probably wait until it is warm on the weekend again to do that.

I don't really know if I even care about 'parking mode', but I do love fiddling with gadgets, so I'll have to learn every aspect of it, even if I ultimately ignore the feature later. It does seem theoretically handy, I've just never had my car bothered while parked, but there is a first time for everything.

Well since I flat tow my Maverick behind our MotorCoach and stop for overnight stays and since it parked at campgrounds and state parks I want to document things if there are any issues so the parking mode is important to me…

I installed one of these on my 23 XLT. I had to go to the fuse panel, at first I had it on all the time, but with the battery issues I moved the hot lead so it comes on when the truck is started.

Yeah makes sense but I need to utilize the parking mode so I powered using the OBD II Port

hope it works well for you, I don't drive my truck that much and took it in to my local dealer, they blamed the camera for the high draw, so I moved the hot lead, also I use a solar charger and bought a AGM battery, ,I was having issues with sleep mode going on constantly.

I don't have car cam, but you do need to disconnect from other wifi, scan network and connect, it is abit of a hassle.

Is this the same with all dash cams. I amost got locked out of my infotainment center. Luckily I had saved the PW in a text. Really poorly executed.
