Thanks for sharing. And here I thought 6% sales tax in Texas was crazy high.

Did they REMOVE Remote start? I know it was standard on Lariat Lux in 2022, made into an option in the 2023, but I thought it was included in the 2024 Lariat. Unless I'm blind, I'm not seeing it.

Edit: When I do the build and price for the US, it reports that Remote Start is included in a Lariat. Hope this isn't a trick and this year refers to the FordPass App instead of the KeyFob like on my 2023.

The Remote Start System is included in the "Lariat Luxury Package" in the Canadian build & price.

Yeah, in Canada we typically have provincial sales tax (PST) that varies by province, and federal general sales tax (GST) fixed 7%. Some have a combined harmonized sales tax (HST). Only one province has no local sales tax, they make up for it with user fees on everything.

LOL What?
Have you lived outside Alberta? Every time I've gone there there are fees for things I've never paid for directly in other other provinces since it's covered by the PST. 🤷‍♂️ I also hear this from friends who moved there.

Can you give me some examples?

Similar in Mexico.. We have a 16% IVA (which is a VAT - Value Added Tax).... It's included right in the price of most things. Many consumer goods in Mexico are higher than say the US, and then the higher VAT makes them even higher.

I had no issues purchasing a Maverick in Mexico (would have made the going back and forth easier... no need for special vehicle permits to operate my mexican plated autos in the USA, but in Mexico, I need special vehicle permits to operate my USA plated autos.) However, I did not for two reasons:

1. Maverick is expensive in MX and only the Lariat has a decent amount of equipment. The VAT makes it even more costly.
2. No 4K Tow package. It's just not available. I don't know why... seems silly.. as they are manufactured in Hermosillo (Sonoran Desert), so even if you don't tow the extra cooling measures provided with the 4K Tow package helps drive train longevity in this extremely hot environment.

Back to the OPs post, I would have thought you all would have paid allot more for Destination charges as it is no easy thing to get that Truck to Nova Scotia...

Also, with a .73 to 1 exchange rate, that puts your Lariat Tremor at $36,200 in USDollars. Again, not as expensive as I thought it would have been in Canada. That combination is $39,500 in the USA in USDollars.

Some of these wouldn't apply for everyone obviously. The one that stuck out to me was people with kids talking about having to buy text books for elementary and high school kids. We never paid fees for those in BC for example, they were just borrowed them from the school. These were all public schools, but maybe it depends on the school district? I know I paid fees for maps (we are talking about years ago before Google Maps and GPS were a thing) and other information at tourist information locations. Was always free here in BC. Maybe that's not a thing anymore? That's the kind of stuff I can think of off the top of my head.

That must vary by school district, when I was in school we had regular school fees (it wasn't much, maybe $100/year or something) which covered textbooks etc.

I have family in Manitoba who criticize AB for not having PST (which blows my mind). They make it sound like we pay a fee to cross the street here. We USED to pay a monthly premium to Alberta Health but that's long gone. And most of the stuff we do pay fees for other provinces do the same (registering a car for example). I'm sure the lack of PST on everything more than makes up for some of the other fees we may pay here.

Sounds like sour grapes or misinformation! I lived in Alberta for a year, never noticed any extra fees. Probably far left media and politicos feeding you BS. They do have large oil and gas revenues which boost government revenues and increase the standard of living , then the feds take a big cut and give it to maritime have-not provinces !

Got no interest in right wing vs left wing political crap, got better things to do. Talk about sour grapes, listening to righties and lefties just makes me laugh, both sides are nuts.

The oil & gas revenues are facts ! The Maritimes mostly being have-not provinces and getting federal transfers that originated in Alberta taxes are facts ! They don’t call the Maritimes Pogey Provinces for no reason ! See , I helped you out and eliminated any reference to right vs left and still boom ! You’re the one who tried to shade Alberta and got into politics, not me ! Mav people asked you for actual examples……
