Had a conversation with local dealer in Oakville today. Have a retiree friend from Ford plant in Oakville who referred me there. His good friends daughter is apparently the GM there. A sales consultant from there called me and I told him what I wanted (Hybrid XLT Lux) and he configured it, and sent the build to me to sign. I replied back that when we actually place the real order I will want it also signed by the dealership once we know accurate pricing. He seemed to think he can actually enter the order with Ford corporate but I am not so sure. Gives me a bit of an uneasy feeling.

Hard to say, not sure if Ford Canada has ever actually closed the order banks. Ford in the US did months ago, but Ford Canada seems to do things differently.

Sounds like he's just taking your "pre-order," a preliminary configuration so it's ready once Ford announces the details, hopefully a bit before the order windows open. Lots of dealers around me are doing such "pre-orders," some as a bit of a con, to get you to commit to their dealership early, some as a bit of actual, very real prepwork, particularly if it's a dealership that's going to have a LOT of orders to input. I know of at least two local dealers who (at least say) they have closed their pre-order books, which I doubt on the one hand (who's going to turn down sales) but on the other hand believe if it's a situation where they only have X# of people who will be inputting them and don't want to piss off all the people who are going to be pins and needles that day waiting on a confirmation email.

But, with order windows not open yet, this is all just speculation.
