Help! Brain Freeze.

Sometimes brain either gets overloaded, frozen or both. Help me save my sanity, as well as get my wife off my back. Every time she drives my Lariat Hybrid with Lux, etc. she complains about the symbol in the upper right hand corner of the backup camera and states that her XLT does not have it. She is worried because her Lariat Hybrid will be built in about 3 weeks or so.

I am sure there is something in the manual, but cannot find it. Two questions: First, what is that vehicle symbol in the upper right hand corner, and Second, can/how can it be turned off?

I am sure the Maverick geniuses can answer this without any trouble.

That symbol is your 360 degree truck outline. If there is anything the truck sees that IT THINKS is too close and that it THINKS you need to be aware of, it will show a colored bar or curve on the display on the "close" side of the symbol.

Man that reminds me of the old saying "third world problems". If the photo is taken in your driveway - how long is she in reverse ? She is actually "worried" that there is a truck symbol when the reverse camera is on ???

Part of the safety featured 360 copilot which as you probably already know, will alert the driver to any nearby obstacles. Not really clear as to why she's bothered by it. Seems a bit trivial. Hope you can resolve this without a divorce lawyer . . . lol.

That explains it. Her 23 XLT only has CP360 and not Assist. Her Lariat has both. Guess she will have to get over it.

Well she could voice her displeasure with the dealership when it arrives and Im sure they would be really upset if she refused to take the truck ....... wonder what they would do with it ???

Good question. We ordered two Lariat hybrids that we thought would never get built, so I flew to Detroit and bought an XLT hybrid for $1K over MSRP, then the first Lariat got built and now the next one has an early June build date. What is odd about hers being built is that it is from a dealer who only ordered 11 back in Sept and now here it is mid may and this is only the second one from their orders.

You are right about that. Hopefully no dealer will read this because it will just be another tool in their arsenal. I am sure they would love an excuse to have an ADM on another one.

Just put a sticker over it & she won't see it in either Maverick!

The only way to disable it showing in the rear camera view is by going into your instrument cluster settings > driver assist and disabling reverse assist. Of course that means that the backup proximity sensors are deactivated.
