hmm that's pretty good tbh. I wouldn't want the heated seats so could probably come in under 1500 USD. I'm assuming it depends alot on what shop you get directed to tho
Ya this one is actually through the dealer i purchased through. So an added benefit is it can be done before i even pick up my truck. So i have no downtime. But the price is probably at best, middle of the pack seeing as its through a dealer.

from the youtube videos ive seen a lot seem to be around that 1500USD range installed. They do have cooling kits too… they look pricey though. Have you looked into that?

Not at all. Probably useful if you live where it's hot all the time. I just want to keep it cheap tho

Wiper well hell!
I don't have the lux so no heated strip below the windshield.

It is almost impossible to keep solid blocks of ice from forming around the wipers when they are in the rest position. Trying to continually remove the ice will eventually break something....maybe me.
Even just a little bit of snow on the windshield melts with the sun and it all ends up as a frozen block in the well. I have not had to deal with this before on any other vehicle.

So, does the windshield de-icer activate automatically, or does one have to turn something on?

Wondering this myself. I thought I read that turning on the defrost and heated mirrors would turn on the heated wiper park. Mine does not heat up at all(Lariat Lux) when I do this.

Hoping it senses the temperature or something, or I may be making a visit back to Safelite if they didn't hook something up right when they replace my windshield.

Edit: From the manual, in Ford Pass app.

Hopefully, as time goes on someone will have an authoritative answer. Thanks for posting . . . glad I wasn't the only one who had this question.

Added pic to my post. I checked mine earlier this year with a temperature gun and by feeling it and it did not heat up when I turned the heated mirrors on.

That would seem to be the logical method of activating "heated" wipers. Perhaps it is one of those obscure features not included in every lux package. (?)
