My check engine light came on the day before I was scheduled to visit the dealership for an oil change and tire rotation. What I was told should have been a two-day wait to get parts and do the replacement for the heat exchanger ended up taking an entire week due to the part not showing up, despite being in stock and supposedly shipping 5 days earlier. I just popped onto the forum and saw that this part seems like a common replacement on earlier models but not sure if people are also experiencing it on the 25 already as well. It did end up getting replaced under warranty.

Glad you were able to get it fixed under warranty. I've owned my 25 AWD Hybrid for (3) months now and it's been rock solid so far (knock on wood). Any idea what the cost to replace it would've been if you were out of warranty? Not sure if this would have been covered by an extended warranty or not.

Unlike the 22-24s, at least they separated the heat exchanger from the rest of the $1200 exhaust pipe and muffler on the 25s. Its actually a weakpoint that had a recall in 22 to improve its resistance to overheat issues. The same problem part is also used on the hybrid F150s, and they fail the same way. Luckily its a hybrid-unique part, so its covered under the 8-year/100k-mile warranty.

I do not know what the cost would have been. I think it was blanked out on the invoice. I will look again though to be sure.

I have a dongle attached to my OBD port and watch some data on my Apple CarPlay. I happened to find a pending warning for the heat exchanger before the light came on. I kept an eye on it over subsequent drives and it eventually cleared without ever turning on the light. It has been a while now so hopefully it was just a glitch!

Check for a coolant leak under the heat exchanger, as the melted plastic is one of the ways it fails. The other way is overheating its circuit board, causing a future latent issue. Some people have noticed that they lose coolant from leaking pipe connections too, so check your rear coolant reservoir level.

Thanks for the tip... if it does not pop up as a problem I will mention it at the next oil change. I also plan on getting them to do the A/C programing fix at the same time.

The truck is still in storage right now while I deal with my medical issue, but I am hopeful I will be back behind the wheel in a month or so!

I've had mine for about 5 months without any issues so far. I just got it serviced and the recall done last month but now I'm coming up to the 7,000 mile mark and I'm planning on driving it from mid Florida to upper Alabama in a few weeks and back. Is the heat exchanger part of the A/C system?

🤣 silly me I just checked on the other threads about the heat exchanger issue and found the answer to my question 🙃
