...I realize the battery is under the back seat but I assumed the one under the hood would have the same effect...
In the Hybrid, there is no battery under the hood. The 12v battery is under the back seat. Pull the strap on the seat bottom and swing the seat up until it latches in place. The 12v battery is on the side opposite the driver side. Disconnect the NEGATIVE (black) cable.

This battery powers the computers, infotainment system and other 12v items. It also closes a rely to allow the high voltage battery (under the truck) to provide power to start the gasoline engine.

Ask your spouse not to drink & drive any more.

I was gonna say; disconnect the 12v (you did) let it dry out, charge the 12v with a trickle charge while disconnected, then try again.

Weird stuff will happen when your 12v drops under 11.5 volts.

It's probably low now from all the shenanegans
I was thinking a low battery too. Electronics go bonkers.

Hey guys. I’ve had my Maverick since July and love it. Been working 99% perfectly. Just now I got back from the store turned it off and went inside. 20 minutes later i notice the head and tail lights are on. Then, they turn off for a minute or so, then they turn back off. Over and over. The truck is off. I went out and got in the got the truck, foot on the brake, pressed the button to start. When I did, the truck instantly starting honking, one long honk until I let go of the button. I tried it twice and both time it did this. I cannot get it to turn on and not do its horn freak out. I am inside the house now watching the lights switch on and off. Please tell me someone has any idea what’s going on and how to fix it.
Sounds like you might have some SPOOKS.

Theses are the clasps that I unclamped, for reference. The are made to be clamped forward, or moved back into this position, which is what I did in my panic just trying to get the horn to stop screaming non stop so it would not wake up the entire neighborhood. Whether or not this did literally a thing at all I have no idea. As soon as I moved them into this position the horn stopped, the head lights came on for probably a minute, then the car went dark and quiet. Ever since then it has made no noises and no lights have come on. My app says it is in deep sleep mode. I don’t care what mode it is in as long as it doesn’t go off in the middle of the night.
Those "clasps" are for the under hood fuse box. The fuses are under there.

You may have improperly disconnected PART of the truck. By accident or by luck, you MAY have disconnected the horn as one of dozens of fuses under there.

Next time, go to the battery under the rear seat, passenger side. There is a little pop out door. Hard to miss.

As said before: DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE side.

When you say it’s pretty much done for, do you mean the parts or the whole truck? I am freaking out that we killed my under a year old car with fucking lime juice and tonic water. I could not figure out how to un plug the battery under the hood (it’s a hybrid). I removed the black casing over the top of where the ‘battery’ is under the hood and, I am not sure how to describe this, “clicked back” the gray clasps that were fastened on the top. I realize the battery is under the back seat but I assumed the one under the hood would have the same effect if I unconnected the right thing. My ford pass app says the car is in deep sleep mode now.
You did NOT destroy your whole truck. A part, or parts, may need to be replaced or dried. Accidents happen to all of us, it wasn't intentional.

Be careful working with electrical things on your vehicle if you are not certain what you are doing. For god's sake don't touch anything orange. There is a considerable amount of energy, even in the 12v, and components may not like to be disconnected or reconnected live.

Get it towed to the dealer. If the 12v dies in the meantime just get it charged, or a new one.

Cheers.

Hi there, Conner! Go ahead and send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer, and I’ll look into this concern. Thanks!

So update on this whole story-

Ford looked at it today and as everyone rightfully predicted, the spilt drink was the culprit. They say it’s an easy an inexpensive fix, they have to replace the module as he calls it ( I know nothing about cars so I don’t know exaclty what that it is) but the only problem is, with Ford being the way it is, especially with mavericks and their availability, who knows when the ordered part will arrive. The rep says there is no ETA on the part arriving. I waited exactly 265 days from when I ordered the truck for it to arrive, only to have it for 9 months. Now I get to wait again. I want to die.

If I were you I would be jumping up and down with joy.

You could be waiting on parts AND paying a big bill. IMO it would be a miracle to get insurance to cover it.

Glad I saw this latest post and glad to hear this is an "easy" fix for you. I'm sure your wife felt terrible about the whole situation. Take her out to dinner to show her you love her a bit more than the Maverick. LOL
