Just don't, the manual specifically says not to use snow plows with the Maverick. Unibody vehicles are not designed for that kind of work. If you absolutely feel like you must, only do it with light dry snow, maybe only a few inches at the most.

Given the notes on the manufactures website, it seems like using it on the Maverick would not work anyway.

Are you looking at my browser history? I looked at that blade earlier this week, wondering if it could help move the mountain of snow the city plow left at the end of my driveway,,,,

If you have a riding mower or an ATV you can get a rear blade that would work for snow removal as well as light-duty grading. You'd need to buy a manual 1-point lift to tote it around.

Having built and used a similar plow on a SUV many years ago, I can offer some insight.

1. I don't think this is what Ford had in mind when they said "no snowplows".

2. The load is properly transferred to the body sturcture through the trailer hitch which can handle the loads associated with a 4000# trailer.

3. This plow is not built for heavy snowplowing, perhaps 3-4" of heavy wet snow, more for light fluffy snow. It may not stand up to the the mound of packed snow left by the snowplow across your driveway.

4. It is difficult to use in many tight situations. Straight out your driveway with no turns would work if you have a place to push the snow. Any obstacles such as curbs or mounds of dirt or even uneven joints in a driveway will be a problem as you have to avoid them, but cannot see them well and have no way to lift the plow over them. Pushing off onto grass can be a problem as the plow can dig in if it's not frozen solid. It will move a lot of gravel from an unpaved drive. The structure would appear to be weak if you catch something with just one end. It's designed for a balanced load.

5. Mine was well worth the $100 in lumber I had in it until I got a tractor that was much more versitile (but not as warm). $1200-no way.

6. There are several youtube videos of one in use around a farm where there was lots of open space to use it which may help you decide.

I doubt backing up with a snow plow is any better than going forward with a front mounted plow.
The weight of the snow is bad enough but hitting any object hidden by the snow is going to cause the shock to be transmitted directly into the truck's sheet steel chassis.
Damage, possibly catastrophic to the truck, is a possible result.

Hire someone to do the darn plowing, pull out the snow shovel or buy a snowblower.
Cheaper than possibly destroying your truck.

At least for the device in the link, they support Ford F150, F250 and F350's.
All body on frame vehicles, likely not by accident or omission.
