The maker claims it cuts wind noise but the reviews on Amazon are 50/50 on that. Normally our cabin is darn quiet but on windy days there is a noise that sounds like it comes from the spot that this thing fits into.

Has anyone tried these and do they reduce noise or are they just for looks?

I returned mine before even trying them on - since I didn't want to deal with the tape etc.... The Wind Noise comment was why I bought it - though not sure I have a wind noise problem back there - but the reason I aborted the mission was at the top - picture does not show - there is a large void thati s left uncovered - few inches - I thought it looked bad since it drew you eye to it immediately - and also had a hunch (could be wrong) this may increase wind noise - think whistle - love to hear from those that do install - though I won't be repurchasing.

Just caulk the gap with 100% silicone. That should keep the wind noise down.
How are you going to get in and out?
Roll down the window.

I thought that the transition between the door jam and the bed looked a but unfinished and noticed a lot of road dust accumulating in that area. So when I saw these I ordered them right away and installed them. I think it looks a lot better and I hope to keep the dust down a bit. As far as wind noise I doubt there is any noticeable difference.

I totally agree with this. Put mine on yesterday, and looks much better in that area!!!

I returned mine and will wait for version 2.0 or for another manufacturer to come up with an improved version. This one has a couple of issues: 1. it does not sit completely flush and has noticeable gaps on the top, 2. the thickness needs to be slightly wider to reduce more sound and the material is not as flexible as other TPE products I have seen, and 3. it feels expensive at $50 for just molded TPE.

I don't understand why that area needs protection.

You are correct, it is less of a protector and more of a noise inhibitor and decorator.

But I did see a used Maverick at the dealership that had scuffs in that area, maybe from someone keeping something metal in the back seats and not being careful when taking it out.
