Has anyone had to replace a windshield? Any issues with recalibration of the collision avoidance sensor?

A rock kicked up and cracked my windshield and I have an appointment to have it replaced. Is there a concern about the recalibration of that collision avoidance sensor that’s mounted up high on the inside of the windshield or is this pretty straightforward?

Yes, as we speak the US Navy and USAF are currently dealing with the issue. However, after the dust settles, the OP may want to contact Safelite just to be sure nothing got affected during the fray.

I had to replace my windshield before 1k miles. As per local company.... There are no sensors attached to the the windshield... Other sensors located more than an 1 inch.... If you replacing one for one you should not recalibrate factory. I know there are lots of companies tell you otherwise but the fact is that they charge you as well for some thing that is totally unnecessary. Unless some how your sensor was damaged, and probably you have a bigger problem than just a windshield. Your auto high beam and collision sensors located in plastic rear view cup. And calibrated to a Ford factory glass.

Who is replacing it? I have 2 rock chips from a trip to FL 2 weeks ago.

Safelite. They do not use Ford glass. The sensor calibration costs more than the glass parts and labor! over $800 for the job. Will call Ford to get a quote using Ford glass, but guessing will be twice that.

I have State Farm ins and it only cost me $100 dollars to replace. They don't use Safelite.
They sent me to a locale shop and they replaced it, no problems and I saved 1200 dollars

I have State Farm too, $100. On my last Audi they paid for OEM glass. Should do it here too. I'm going to the dealer Monday to see if they can get one.

Had no issues with Safelite. Insurance (Farmers) paid for OEM Glass and recalibration.

Safelite replaced my Lariat windshield with a Ford OEM windshield.
They did calibrate the Camera.

$100 State Farm deductible.

Damn! Ok, I guess no reason to worry about the Calibration issue. I have a high deductible ( higher than cost of windshield replacement), so I am on my own. Thank you for all of your feedback!

Safelite did mine. I’ve no idea what it costs as my insurance covered it but they came to my house, took a couple hours, and left a certificate stating recalibration was performed. This was on a Lariat with 365

I tend to go through a few windshields on a car. Before I retired I commuted 35k a year. Concerned if I ever need it on the Mav that the heated window park and acoustic glass may be an issue.

Glad it worked for you. I've never had good luck using it.

The dealer broke my windshield during the air bag recall. They installed an original ford windshield. They didn’t recalibrate the sensor. It took 3 days to get the truck back. They loaned me a Lincoln Aviator. I got the truck back , they cleaned it inside out.
