So, the support rods that hold the cover up when fully folded.... have a question. Is it supposed to hold the cover off of the rear glass too, or are those rods just to prevent it from flopping back town? I can't seem to figure it out. My dad just picked up his lariet hybrid (eruption green) today. I've got a red one ordered and it's gonna be a long wait. that thing is nice.

My rods just hold the cover against the window, with these foam blocks providing protection. You have these blocks, right?

I do have the foam blocks, but they don’t look that thick. I’ll double check and add more if I need to. Makes sense now. Thanks!

Are those foam blocks included? Shopping these types of tonneaus and I'm worried about the longevity of those foam pads or whatever would be used to protect the window.

BakFlip included those with my Mx4, which I bought in Jan 2023. I'm on my 3rd Maverick, and moved that cover from 1 to the next.

The Ford badged folding hard tonneau doesn't use those mickey mouse foam pads. The tonneau folds up against the back of the cab. The back of the cab has plastic bump outs (tabs) that the tonneau rests against. The tonneau never touches the glass at all. You can see the tabs it should rest against in the photo another poster showed with the kludgy foam pads. Ford doesn't use those. I drew a green arrow to where the Ford badged hard folding tonneau cover rests when held up by the rods.

I should have noted that what came with our Ford tonneau cover was a rolled up section of half round rubber bumper. I wonder if they chose that over the two blocks of foam rubber others have shown to better protect the rear window. It seem like the big rubber blocks rest directly on the glass itself putting pressure points on it. This type of stip keeps the cover from actually touching the glass at all, since it rests onto the bump outs on each side. I decided to add a piece of it in the middle as well, but it never touches the glass, I positioned it so it just rests against the cab just above the window glass.

My Ford badged cover has the blocks and holds the cover off the window about 1/4 inch.
