I'm 35 where do I fall in this target demographic? People in their 20s/down say I'm old and people in their 40s/up say I'm young. Can't win. Love my Maverick.

I'm 66 and I've had 3 trucks since 1983. A new Toyota Hilux for 26 years / 330K miles, a used Ford Ranger for 14 years / 268K miles, and a salvage '23 Maverick for 1 month. I don't buy stupid trucks.

If I was in 30s, with a Maverick, might get some gals. But here I am, in the third trimester’s of my life, the gals, old n young, are saying “cute lil truck”. I immediately ask them “would you like to go ride to have a beer with me?”

Back in about 2005 I had a low mile, rust free 1975 Chrysler Cordoba with a big block 400 that I was pretty proud of and I would put in car shows. Well, I put it in a car show in Menahga Mn. and was sitting in a lawn chair next to it when 3 younger girls (late teens or early 20's) came walking up. I heard one excitely say "Hey, look a Monte Carlo.". When they got looking at it another said "This is a Chrysler!" and then another said "Eeeuww!" and they all quickly walked away.

I knew right then I was too old to know what girls liked anymore.

I'm not thinking it's a Maverick, but then I'm probably still wrong. LOL

I'd ask my wife but she'd give me the stink eye and tell me "You don't even worry about what girls like!"

I peaked at about 25 (in my mind). My brain still can't figure out why I can't jump up into the truck bed anymore.

One of the reasons why I traded my F250. Tailgate too high. And to wash the top of the cab, needed to get in bed to reach.

Maverick is painless.

73 years young. Zero debt. Still have my 02 Super Duty 7.3 that I bought new. My 24 Maverick will be cash purchase also. If I want something, I save and pay cash. Most of the young generation don’t understand three important words, Want, Need, Save.

Great point, however when presented with a choice of simply staying in poverty and driving a 33 year old vehicle with a quarter million miles and a side mirror held on with wood screws or borrow money lock in your poverty and have nice Maverick with AC for your cancer survivor wife to drive.

Well I guess I will take a second helping of poverty.

I don’t see why not, seniors are the ones that are more likely to be able to go buy one for cash. A lot of the old curmudgeons that post here paid cash for Their mavericks.

When they want to sell toys to young kids, they make commercials showing older kids having a great time playing with the toy. The opposite is true for products aimed at the older demographics.

Knowing this, I thought the original marketing campaign was pretty funny. Didn't affect my purchasing decision at all since I had been saying since about 1989 that I'd buy a compact, AWD crew cab pickup in a heartbeat. The maverick was the first one anybody anywhere manufactured.

Advertising? I didn't see any, but I read a news article about the Maverick introduction. Front-wheel drive hybrid crew cab pickup about the size of the original Ranger? No further info required; I called my dealer and asked to place a '22 order. Oops! "They're already sold out, but you'll be number one on our list for a 2023. Nah, we don't need a deposit." 19 months later, I picked it up, wrote a personal check for the whole amount (I have a rather lengthy relationship with this particular dealership). Who needs advertising?
