I’ve read that if you just plug in a night light to the AC outlet, if equipped, will over ride ASS.
If that's true than that is hilarious and I wish I tried that before disabling my auto stall with a Cobb.

It works on the Ranger and doesn’t drain the battery because of auto shutdown of electrical after a few minutes. Stupid simple I know..

They usually fail at the most inconvenient times but no worries. You can go out on a frigid winter morning and slap that inexpensive new replacement starter on in five minutes, easy peasy!

Not for me.
Piece of cake...and you're right, I can remember as a youth, getting under my 1972 beat to hell Torino to put a "new" starter in it in the dead of winter. Brrr.

I maybe wrong but isn’t the run stop part of the emissions controls and legally can’t be turned off?i have seen where the government maybe going to eliminate this thing but hasnt been passed yet.but current vehicles will still be stuck with it.either way, whatever, its a piece of junk and mine was disabled soon as i got home.and i paid the 100$ just so i wasn’t bothered with no darn button every time i got in the truck!

I liked the start stop feature on my old Cherokee. Ten years of service without an issue. Replaced the battery at 9 years, which is a couple of years more than I typically get from the Oem battery.

I like it even better on the 24 Lariat hybrid. Interestingly, my 24 Tremor (Ecoboost) is calibrated differently than our Hybrid and you have to really work at it by applying significantly more brake pressure at a stop light to activate the start stop feature. I much prefer the way the feature is calibrated in the hybrid.

I was an engine development engineer for thirty plus years, and find it somewhat amusing to read the hypothetical, and unfounded “concerns” about such a system from novice, self acclaimed Engine design experts who never worked on engine development programs in their entire life.

They’re all entitled to their opinions, I guess. Just don’t make decisions based on those unfounded opinions.

Hi all, I’m new. My 2025 Hybrid XLT doesn’t even have the auto start stop. It annoys the crap out of me. My Escape had it.

What if these people simply do not like or want the feature in their vehicles, period?

Richard,
Welcome to The forum 🤝
Your hybrid actually does have a start stop, not like the EB, so there isn't a disable button. The hybrid is so seamless that a lot of times you don't notice it. When you start up from a stoplight the high voltage battery can get you rolling and the engine will start when it needs to.
If you want something that is more similar to the start stop sport mode that will start/engage the engine when you touch/push the accelerator.
In the summer, your air conditioner compressor continues to run off of the high voltage battery when you're stopped at long stop lights or in line at the drive-thru.

Nice!

You too can burn more gas and pay more at the pump for just $17!

Auto start stop is not like our hybrids when you can get rolling on electric and the ICE engages after.
It is VERY annoying on a normal ICE car, I'd do the same if I had the ecoboost.

Welcome.
It's not called that because it's slightly different - but your engine most assuredly does auto-stop (usually as you start coasting to a stop if warm enough), and does auto-start as you accelerate away.
Obviously it's off the entire time sitting there too - unless the HVB gets down to 30% SOC due to very long sit time, or AC running, or just bad luck timing - in which case it will run to charge up the HVB to 40%.

Keep reading the forums and searching to discover more on that subject.

Hybrid doesn't have auto start/stop like the EB, nothing to do with calibration or brake pressure.

Welcome to forums - enjoy reading more on how the hybrid works!

Thank you, because I don’t have the disable switch like I did in my escape. Still learning this hybrid thing.

Your post is out of context and I don't know why you quoted me. Please undo the quote of me. Thank you.

I owned one of the first 10,000 hybrid cars in the WORLD. Actually, it's VIN number was under 3,000 of the first model year. A MODEL YEAR 2000 Honda Insight which by the way, coined the term "auto stop-start".
