Fit is the most important. Which translates directly to quality and appearance. I would think that the above would mean the there is a direct correlation to the cost. Cost should probably be on your list because may be a major driver regarding choice.

Now, we’d love to run a quick survey:

When choosing floor mats, what matters most to you?
  • Durability
  • Fitment
  • Appearance
  • Anti-Slip performance
  • Thickness
Or something else?

We’re currently working on developing new Michelin floor mats, and your feedback may directly influence the direction of future Michelin floor mats designs.
If you have any features or ideas you’d like to see in Michelin floor mats, feel free to share them below.

🎁 To appreciate your participation, We’ll randomly pick one participant from the replies to receive a truck bed mat/tailgate mat as a gift! If we picked you and you have already bought one, we will make it free for you!

I think fitment is the highest priority. I unfortunately purchased the OEM mats from Ford when I ordered my truck. They do not have as much coverage of multiple other manufacturers mats. I actually added a piece of rubber right below the gas pedal where the Ford mats do not cover. Had I to do it over I would have purchased aftermarket floor mats.

I do not see it listed in your options but making floor mats that clean up easily would also be a priority for me. Mats never seek to regain there looks after a couple of seasons of use.

Durability is a given I presume.

Fit is most important then followed by durability.

Hmm.
  • Cost - You can make the world's best mat but if isn't relatively affordable there are many other options that may be equivalent
  • Fitment - If it doesn't fit well, it's going back in the box to return it
  • Anti-Slip performance is on par with fitment - if it moves around it doesn't fit
  • Appearance - If I didn't like the look of it, I wouldn't buy it in the first place, and if it looks worse in person there's another reason to put it back in the box
  • Thickness is just another aspect of how it appears - A flimsy mat isn't worth keeping
  • Durability is important but can't be adequately assessed without use, so this consideration would be for buying (or not) a subsequent mat
There is also a matter of the type of mat someone is looking for.
A pretty carpet type mat is of no use if your reason for buying something "better" than what comes with the vehicle is because it will get snow and mud on it.
That aspect adds a new category - EASY to CLEAN

Another aspect not mentioned is name brand recognition.
For some, having a manufacture's name on a product might be something they look for, but for those more practical like me, I'd rather have a product that does the job for a good price than something with a name on it. I don't need to impress anyone with my floor mat. Others might.

The exception for that would be if the name was the vehicle's name, in this case MAVERICK, which might tempt one to pull the trigger for a few more dollars.

Having a Michelin tag on the product doesn't add value for me.

If I would put the items you mentioned in order, I’d go with

  1. Fitment
  2. Durability / Thickness (two sides, of the same coin)
  3. Appearance (this isn’t hard, make em matte black)
  4. Anti-Slip performance

Fit and coverage. Something with a small lip to prevent large spills and water from flying off, and full coverage for the back seats - one large mat form-fitting over the hump, not 2 smaller ones.

Needs to fit well enough/be heavy enough to not flap/blow out at 75mph.
I'm thinking even a paper courtesy paper mat after a service visit wouldn't blow out the window at 75 will all the windows open... These are floor mats, not bed mats... or am I mistaken...

For floor mats, it would be fit and functionality for me (IG, able to handle holding and protecting the vehical from spills, wet/dirty shoes). For a bed mat, Anti-slip performance.
Thank you for doing this giveaway!
