I'm back. After getting my truck in March 2022 I slowly stopped posting. A couple weeks ago I was rear-ended on the interstate and fear they will total my truck. so I'll be in the wait again. I am thinking of talking the locking bracket tie downs so the next truck will have four (don't know how to remove them).

What items would you take off the totaled truck for the future new one?

I'm not sure what you could take off a totaled vehicle since technically the insurance company is "buying" the vehicle from you and it would then be theirs. I'm sure you can take personal items and any mods you paid for but I'm guessing they would frown upon you taking items that came on the truck from the factory since they are selling it for parts to recoup some of their money.

I asked that question of the shop and they said they took pictures of everything for the insurance so it was only personal items as I didn't own it anymore.

Anything salvageable really. If you can sell it, then why not?

Always a market for spare parts. I'd part out piece by piece of whatever I could. It would make for a great lawn ornament during the process.

Also, anything you put on as accessories to transfer over to your next Maverick when you get it ;)

Tie downs, bed storage compartment, the bed accessory cord, bed cover, DIBL, antenna, full-size spare, floor mats, FITS accessories, and all upgrades you purchased and put on yourself.

PS: Sorry for your loss. If my memory serves me, Tie downs are secured with M8 Torx bit

Just like selling a house, if its bolted down, its not yours. The insurance company can sue you for the estimated resale value of those parts, as you are have de-valued their property.
I don't see how you can get sued but when they pick up the truck they will inspect it, you can take things you installed nothing bolted in, they will deduct anything you take from your settlement check obviously they're not going to miss little things but the info screen?
spare tire etc, the driver has a check sheet he has to fill out and inspected again when it gets to the yard, don't forget the salvage company bought the vehicle from the insurance company there expecting a complete vehicle and they will deduct parts missing from there payment to the insurance company and the insurance will deduct it from your check, Ive seen this happen many, many times so beware.

Take the D-rings from the front of the bed. FORD is mighty proud of those.

BTW, order a new one right now to get in the queue. You don't have to take it but the sooner the better.
