If it was a non refundable deposit then the dealership can keep his deposit AND sell the vehicle to someone else with a markup. It's been done, there are posts on this very forum about it. Hopefully the dealership the OP ordered from isn't that scummy though.
Prior to asking I wanted to hear what the experience of others were. I'm not partial to re-inventing the wheel. I do not anticipate any issues but I also believe that others have wrangled a better deal and so I asked.
Okay? That doesn't answer anything and I have to admit it seems like you're purposely being obtuse in this thread. As I and many others have already pointed out, the deposit is 100% dependent on what you agreed to when you made the deposit. What agreement did you have with the dealership? If you aren't sure then the only way to know if it's refundable is to ask the dealership. NO ONE here can tell you that. So again, what did they say when you asked?

If you read between the lines in this thread and his past posts t's clear that he doesn't want his deposit back. What he wants to hear is that he can definitely make a profit if he takes delivery and resells the truck. What he's looking for is one person to tell him what he wants to hear, that he'll definitely be able to do that. He's already said that he's having financial difficulties so that is an awful plan on his part.
This is terrible advice. He's already said that he's having financial difficulties and cannot afford the truck. Could he buy it an make a profit on it? It's possible but the more likely outcome will be that he takes a loss if he tries that. He should do the sure thing in his case and just ask for his deposit back.
