"Getting in line" for an ordered Hybrid

Have people started having conversations with Dealers yet, realizing that the order window for a 2023 doesn't open up for 9 months or so? There could be a fair amount of pent-up demand, so I imagine even a year from now, getting one built to spec could be an adventure.

There are going to be some hybrids come available as dealers gouge their customers, knowing they can probably find somebody who will pay $5-10k+ over MSRP.

Santa Cruz's already being priced higher and selling with high mark-ups have pretty much guaranteed the Maverick's will sell at a high premium.

I have a build date, but I also know most dealers are one level of shady, or another. Also, a raging global pandemic has choked supply lines, so nobody has a guaranteed delivery date.

The longer COVID continues to screw with the supply of materials, labor, and transportation, the longer it will take for most of us to see our orders.

Also...I think Ford failed to anticipate the overall demand for the Maverick. I have a February build date, and my vehicle # is in the42k range. Then consider I ordered my Maverick in late July. Ford will be able to sell as many Mavericks as they can build. And the decrease in overall supply of vehicles is allowing dealers to sell them for as much as they want.
