Hi, George from Maine. This Friday
I’m looking at getting a 2025 Gray Maverick XLT with 4K tow package . Will it be able to handle my 14’ single axle trailer with my 2022 can Am Maverick sport max (4 seater) other than that I love the truck. This would be replacing my current 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. That’s an OK vehicle but the gas mileage is not that great. I’m lucky to average 19 to 20 on a good day and when I’m towing my gas mileage dropped off much much more. I understand that’s expected when towing but I’m looking for an all-around better vehicle. Better mpg, can stick tow my SxS etc. I do commute about 21 miles to work every day on the highway when we do tow the side-by-side the furthest, we usually tow it one way is about 25-30 miles.
Thoughts, input?

thank you!

Well the SxS is 1,700 lbs.
not sure on the trailer. It’s 14’ single axle galvanized steel.

wondering if anyone ties similar toys and how the Maverick does.

You can tow 4,000lbs. As long as it’s 4,000lbs or less you should be good.

Is anyone out there towing a side-by-side similar to mine that could chime in to how it toes, gas mileage, etc. I just don’t want to burn up the truck or hurt the truck or anything like that either

I am assuming it is an open trailer. If so, you will have no issues. If enclosed, check the frontage... That will make a big difference. Ford says, 40 sq ft for frontage. I tow a 13' EVO enclosed snowmobile trailer with 2 sleds and it tows great. My frontage is slightly over, but the weight is only in the low 3000 lb range. I cruise (cruise control set at 75 much of the way) up the Maine turnpike (i 95) starting in MA to the county often in the winter. Mileage drops significantly due to the frontage vs weight. Full (13's) empty (14's), so weight seems to be less important than frontage for mileage. Towed the same 2 sleds with my 2020 Escape with similar mileage, but it was a smaller (less frontage) trailer. Upgraded to the Mav to get 4000 towing vs. 3500.

yes open trailer.
so regardless towing is going to kill mpg.

I tow a 16 foot utility trailer with my Model T on the trailer. T weighs about 1600 pounds. You hardly know it is back there, the Maverick tows it that well.

mpg is not affected as much as you think.
