Gear selector shifter wouldn't respond

Yesterday I was trying to put my '24 Hybrid in gear and it would not engage into either Drive or Reverse. A message popped up on the dash that I didn't take a picture of so I can't say exactly what it said. I put it in neutral to see if I could get it to roll in my driveway but it seemed locked in Park.
Has anyone experienced this? I've searched this formum but can't find any references to it. Two hours later and today it seems fine and will shift into gears. I called dealer to explain situation & they told me to drive it until it happens again. I don't want it to sit at dealer for two weeks if they can't replicate it.
My other question is: if it " locks" in "Park" again, how do I get it towed to dealer if the wheels are locked?

Your user's manual details the steps necessary to release the parking pawl so it can be moved for towing.

You could disengage park as stevj mentioned, or a tow truck driver can utilize a tow dolly or tire skates depending on how they are towing it.

Did you by chance have a door not completely closed? I believe you can't get it out of park if a door is open. Perhaps your Mav "brain" thinks a door is open?????

Are you sure it was on all the way (run/start/ready)? Sounds like it was only in accessory.

Thanks RR-Alltheway & CNJFF~~~you both may be correct so tomorrow I'll try to replicate it by doing both of those suggestions. That would make me more comfortable if that replicates it, knowing it's not some major malfunction lurking, waiting to happen. I appreciate your comments

I have on several occasions started mine with the drivers door open, put it into D or R and moved it while watching the ground with the door open. Also have opened the door while it is in D or R and moved it.

I've done that also while washing and moving up to vacuum in my driveway. I'm betting the key wasn't turned all the way to the right.

It seems to be functioning normally this morning, I tried everyone's suggestions to try to replicate it, but it seems to be back to normal. I may have not been clear in my initial post~~~ the Selector would rotate to D , N and R but the transmission seemed to be locked in Park.
On Monday when this malfunction occurred and I finally got it to go into Drive mode after waiting and retrying 2hours later, the front end of the truck seemed to "rise up" about 2 inches as if I was driving over a 2x4 piece of lumber laying in the driveway. Now is doesn't do that at all. Weird situation, but time will tell.
Has anyone else experienced this malfunctioning in gear selector shifter and transmission?

Did you by chance have a door not completely closed? I believe you can't get it out of park if a door is open. Perhaps your Mav "brain" thinks a door is open?????

I turned off my door ajar warning in forscan and my mav will run with door open backing up.

If you attempt to go forward or backward (Drive or Reverse) with the parking brake on, your Maverick will automatically release the parking brake for you, but there is a slight but noticeable hesitation. It does seem that the front end rises up a little.
