Busy gentleman with good intentions I am sure. But I am curious as to why the Ford dealer would allow someone, albeit a good customer, take a brand new rig home to disassemble and “try” fitting the parts on his own rig? Followed up by a quick reassemble of the dealers truck to return to the lot for sale.

I don’t think I would be happy to learn about this if I were the eventual purchaser of the Lariat model. But this is just my humble opinion.

******* I stand corrected after reading the gentleman’s response. It sounds like this Lariat will be heading to the mod shop at the dealer for some upgrades. Carry on ✔🇺🇸

Thank You FORD for ensuring my Maverick permanently retains the Cheap AF look and inability to pull from the front.
Y'all realize that Maverick has a set of Winching Holes for recovery purposes? From the owners manual;

Brand new Vehicles get taken apart all the time before they're sold. All those modified vehicles dealerships sell.. guess what. Get disassembled. And people like my are the ones who do it. I just didn't modify this maverick.
If I did that I'd have extra parts left over. I haven't kept up, but do you modify vehicles for a living?

If I remember right this Mav was originally the one ordered and when it had not been delivered and this similar one came in the dealer offered it and the buyer took it (bean counter like). Two weeks or so later the ordered one shows up and dealer allows buyer to inspect (who removes front). (Bean counter like). Dealer has to remove front to check for damage (bean counter like). Shop manager uses truck as training tool (bean counter like) and can claim "my guys have touched every thing on this Mav" to anyone wanting info. Then it goes to Mod Shop who then figures out which of one or more mods can and will work and at what cost (who knows what the bean counters can due with the P&L when this thing sells).

After looking at the image you uploaded, I decided to take a peek at the underneath of one to see exactly what the winching holes consisted of. In other words, whether it was simply just a pair of holes, or if the holes consisted of anything that would assist with the recovery process.

As such, I crawled underneath the truck, and took a quick pic, for reference.

Very nice. Sheet metal at least. Assuming if they called it out in the manual as a tow/recovery point that it’s “built Ford tough.” I hope.

Just to be clear, the lighter grey consists of plastic, like the outer bumper cover. The darker grey/black is actual sheet metal. Just FYI, I did reach inside with my finger, to see if anything was inside for a hook to grab. But, alas! Twas just a hole.

Any idea what diameter that hole is? My guess is, this is something the tow-truck crowd would use, and have a hook to fit?

As luck would have it, I'm on my way to where it is right now, so I'll have another look. I'll try to take a pic again, with a dollar bill as a reference for scale.

Also, just to note, the Ford rep there said that these displays were only prototypes, and the production models are subject to change, but I can't imagine that these are going to be all that different when it's showtime.

*******EDIT********

Below is the promise picture. I hope this helps!

You could maybe rig up some hook for $90 since even if you wanted the factory hook they are $176.43 each from Ford parts

Where do you see these on ford parts ?? I’m asking because I don’t want to be told that this is not possible either!! Would love to try

Does anyone know how we're supposed to use these holes?
I don't think regular recovery straps would connect to that.

In the process of trying to order my Hybrid.

Wanted to add recovery hooks after delivery (for functionality) and found this.

Unibody construction issues. Need to keep in mind this is a truckish vehicle, really useful. Guess won't get permanent hooks.

For comparison, my full size 2015 Ford SUV product (2WD) comes with recovery hooks installed as the base trim, but that is a frame based vehicle.
