Mine broke, also, after hitting some road dibris (a mattress!). I cut a piece of material from a rubber mud flap and ziptied it into place. The mattress had only broken the scoop portion if the plastic assembly. The fix is holding up well.

Good to know. I have the FX4 heavy steel skid plate. I've thought if it was important enough, I could fabricate a piece of aluminum to bolt inside that hole and direct air on the PTU.
Once I had the skid plate off I was actually able to get the plastic scoop (that sits above) to click back together with the plastic C shape piece on the outside but man it seems like a flimsy system.

Also - this was my first oil change at home (dealer had done all others till powertrain warranty expired). MISSING - 2 bolts from my main skid plate, and 2 of the Torx screws were missing from the plastic piece that connects to the front metal and 2 from the part that connects the two pieces - the little crappy inserts they go into were missing so either the shop broke them on one of the oil changes or they fell out. Either way I would never let that dealership change my oil again.

Might look at the aftermarket skid plate - the stock one is crazy heavy for what it is. Also seems like would have been better to just make the whole thing one piece. Rival skid plate leaves a weird gap at the front though.

I'm always surprised how bad car dealerships are, particularly Ford. It seems like their main skill is all in the sales and finance department, pushing someone into signing a sales agreement. That is where their expertise stops.

I've thought if I had the time of making a heavy duty (3/16 inch thick) one piece aluminum skid plate to replace the heavy FX4 one. It doesn't look simple. I'll add it to my list of things I never get around to.
