I don't think it's worth 10% of the cost of the vehicle, but I bought an XL for the same reason.

Ford uses what it calls Intelligent AWD. Under normal road conditions this reverts to 95% FWD.

Just know price wise last year got xlt turbo with lux, 4k tow and 360.

The 25 hybrid xlt i ordered is comparable in price........with dropping awd, LUX, and 4k tow. Think last year's was 33 something and this one 32. If I'd added awd, luxury, 4k tow this one would took the price over 36k

I took delivery on my 2025 Maverick XLT hybrid fwd. (traded in my 2022 fwd. Eco) IMO unless you need the 4K tow package or have exceptional amounts of snow there is no advantage to AWD. A set of snow tires will likely do fine in most snow belt areas with fwd.
I grew up in Michigan and lived in Rhode Island and New Jersey. FWD was always fine unless snowfall was extraordinary. I live in New Mexico now and some of the roads are not much more than tracks in the sand. I ordered the AWD Maverick.

I ordered a 2nd Maverick recently, and got week march 3rd build date allready.

I ordered hybrid fwd, but have a 24 turbo awd maverick I'm keeping as well.

Reading forum seems most posts offering reviews or impressions are primarily AWD.

Admittedly the mpg difference is minor, 1-2 mpg. But $2500ish is noticable increase in price, as well wouldn't think all climates or households need AWD.

So wondering if or how many others have ordered 25 in FWD? Seeing so few posts i feared a bit it might delay production if was limited orders, but actually got build scheduled quick, in just 4 weeks or so.
Just get some chains. I used to live in the Colorado mountains and pulled out several full size 4WD trucks with my 2 wheel drive cheve S10 and chains. They are a pain to put on and off......

I've never drove a lot in sand, but I agree with you regarding snow. FWD is fine majority of the time, and when you get to the point that you NEED AWD, might as well stay home. Snow is more about tires than anything.

I do see the biggest benefit of the AWD is to get the towing up to a usable 4k; 2k barely covers anything.

Mine is a FWD. I currently have a 22 FWD and it has worked well for me. I plan to keep my 25 for many years. But, I don't travel much or drive off road so it seemed a waste of money for AWD. Oh and I have hauled riding lawn mowers, ATV, washer and dryer on a trailer with no problems either.
Edited to add I purchased snow tires and that makes a big difference.

That's what I've always thought funny and contributes to success of maverick.......in relation to mentioning off road use.

Full size trucks increasingly seem built and advertised to hype "off road capability".........increasingly higher ground clearances making reaching into or climbing into bed harder to impossible, even getting in or out of them is harder for shorter or older drivers? And one has to wonder why, as would wager the majority are never used offroad.........certainly not to the extent actually needing the high ground clearances.

Arguably the Santa Cruz and Maverick were initially marketed to younger drivers as more affordable and sporty. But think were rather quickly embraced by older and shorter (female) drivers wanting easier access to bed or cabin.

Edit- not knocking Tremor or those who want it, but it hasn't pervaded every trim with Maverick so far......Maverick has even gone the opposite direction with the Lobo trim.
