Who can advise? I’d like to replace my small spare and wheel with a full size. (XLT with 17” Pro Contacts)
-Will the truck hold full size if it came with small wheel/tire?
-Best resource for purchase/install (I assume Ford)
-Approx cost for all

I believe this topic was once covered by Methuselah. You may be able to just squeeze into the slot for the spare with a standard 225/65/17 on the 17" spare rim. The 235/65/17 Falken is about a half an inch too big. Now, you could cut off the "puncture teeth" and probably get it in there. If you have the tow package, it will take up some of the extra space ;)

Selecting the "full sized spare" option when you order is the easiest solution - you get a steelie like the ones that come on an XL. Otherwise you could either check with the dealer or try to find a steelie take off on ebay or something. The wheel for the doughnut spare is smaller and won't fit a regular tire. If you buy a wheel you have to make sure you have the correct size and offset.

The 235/65/17 Falken WP fits fine. As this is the largest tire the Maverick comes with.
When you get a flat it needs to fit back where the spare is held.

I have a 235/65/17 for a spare to match the other 4 tires. It is the largest size that fits inside the teeth. You can go bigger but it would be outside the teeth. Or if you don't have the hitch you may be able to go bigger that way too. I have hitch so I don't know how much difference it would make.

I would check with a tire store for a cheap tire & steel wheel that fits a Maverick. Depending on where you live, they may have slightly used Maverick steelies & OEM tires that someone traded in for an upgrade. A Ford stealership would likely bend you over for a similar tire & wheel.

I run a steel Unique 83 wheel from Discount Tire. When I was looking at picking up an XL wheel back in early 2022, Ford wanted $500. For one steelie.

Look on Craigslist, offer up, and Facebook marketplace. There are Steelie take off's on there all the time. (several sets and singles in AZ alone). A Dealer will way over charge you for a new steelie.
Happy hunting 🤟

@bgn has a great option to consider. Same look as the OE steelie wheel, but quite a bit less expensive! Is I can help, shoot me a DM!
