Full audio upgrade complete

I finally upgraded the sound system in my xl maverick. The stock sound is awful. Terrible.
Kicker key 200.4 amp. $250 Best Buy.

Focal component speakers ( front doors and dash) RSE-165. $149 CRUTCHFIELD.

tweeter harness . Metra 72-5600. $15 for two. CRUTCHFIELD.

Rockville 8" . 400 watt powered sub woofer. $100 . Amazon.

Complete harness that connects radio to amp and subwoofer. $180

The hoel harness may seem expensive but it's such a time saver. All in one to hook up everything. I only had to run two power leads from battery and run two ground wires. The customer service is outstanding. Even answered my many noob questions at midnight !

I bought the Boss amp kit for $20 on Amazon. The Rockville sub came with a wiring kit.

$5. At harbor freight for heat shrink tubing.

I took my time and install wasn't too bad. The tweeters actually caused the most cursing.

The kicker key amp is amazing. It automatically balances the audio.

I am not exaggerating....the sound is 5 times better than stock. Simply fantastic!!!

Lol. If you have any questions, just ask. I watched every video and still had questions. I only broke one tab. By the tweeter, drivers side. Learned my lesson for other side.

Very nice system. I have the same fronts and they were a huge upgrade from the B&O units.

Is your powered sub next to the jack on the passenger or driver side? Hard area to take a good photo...

How long is the harness?

I bought the short harness. As I wanted the kicker key under the dash. It's about 2 feet long. The second part of the harness for sub behind rear seat is long. Easily reached. About 10 feet. You can also get the harness longer if you want to mount an amp elsewhere. He was very helpful explaining the harness to me.

A small amp and good front speakers is all that's really needed. I installed a powered subwoofer but I have it turned all the way down. I think I could have left it out.

Just installed the RSE-165 in my doors this weekend and they are amazing! Even coming from the B&O system, this is a great upgrade. And you don't have to worry about an amp since the factory one runs the front speakers.

I did not use the crossovers. After lots of research I decided not to use them . Apparently the kicker key does a good job of balancing the sound.

Oh so the crossover is optional? Might be even better. I was on the fence about the Kicker Key, but I think you convinced me.
