Front USB Ports (Types A and C) - Issues. Replacement.

If you are experiencing issues (especially connection issues) using the front USB ports, replacement is the best solution. I've almost always
had issues with my wireless Android Auto adaptor from the beginning. From slow start up to disconnects (hitting a bump while driving). I believe that the very strong tension I caused on the USB cable due to the way I initially set up the adaptor added to the initial cause. A couple of days ago the UBB A port completely died while the USB C port still continued to work. I decided to replace the hub, officially known as the "Auxiliary Audio Jacks HUB". It is extremely easy to replace (less than 10 minutes),

and the hub can be purchased from a dealer for $90 (sometimes less) or you can purchase a cheaper knockoff on amazon.

To illustrate how "fragile" these hubs are one just has to read the warning on the side that reads "Scrap If Dropped"!

Wow, that's really bad. scrap if dropped. Absolutely not to be political but since the part and truck are made in Mexico shouldn't that be in Spanish?
The USB port died on my 23 probably sometime in 24. The c port still works. I keep thinking about replacement but just haven't done it.

The phrase... Scrap If Dropped, has appeared on this forum. Three years ago.
Remember seeing this on some Climate control assemblies...

Good to know - thanks for sharing. I was getting a service done at my local Ford dealer yesterday and they quoted me over $80 for the cabin air filter plus labor (declined). Wonder what changing this little module would have cost at the dealer.

How do you remove that from the panel?

Do you have to drop the panel to depress the tabs, or can you just pull it out from the front?

Use a plastic removal tool to wedge left and right sides. Pull out and unclip the two cables in the back.

Mine was dead on my 2023 when I bought it.. of course I didn't find out till id already bought it and got it home lol. But I just yesterday 1/12/26 got that square port fixed(the C always worked) so at least that was fixed. They cant fix the backup camera lmao glad ive never had issues with it.

I work for a Tier 1 Auto supplier and our standard practice for everything dropped is to scrap it. We don't have anything labelled as such (likely not required by our customer). It is in our Standard Work Procedures though.

A lot of the units in the maverick say scrap if dropped. Take a look at the climate control unit

I just replaced mine, and it disconnects with road bumps or if I hit it directly. Should I ask Ford for a replacement? could it be something else? replace the internal mini-usb cable first?

can the wiring be spliced into a DIFFERENT set of USB ports?
Or did Ford make some sort of voltage/data adapter built into the "do not drop" assembly?

It seems to me that the practical way to design this assembly would be to just have USB cables go directly to the ports and not be "adapted" in between. Perhaps the port unit is just a shell, for rapid assembly, with the cutout fitting other port units with different connections.

My C port isn't working, so I may experiment with this and post my results.

C3512A is 12V Power, Ground for the media hub.

C3512B = USB Data Lines
