I bought my 2025 Maverick Hybrid Lariat in NC a month ago and have a temporary 60- day NC tag good until early May. I'm driving it to NY in two weeks to have it permanently registered in NY at my vacation home. NY requires front and rear plates. NC requires only a rear plate, so the truck came with no front plate bracket. The NC dealer where I bought the car can't seem to get the correct front bracket from Ford. I'm told the problem might be that the bracket cannot cover/interfere with the front radar sensor for adaptive cruise control.

Anybody else have this problem, and have a part number or a source for the bracket, or other resolution, other than drilling out the front bumper ?

That answer from the dealer sounds highly suspect. As you pointed out, many states require front license plates, and obviously there aren't state specific Mavericks shipped to address that.

Try another dealer.

Thanks for your reply. You're correct that Ford doesn't ship different Mavericks to states that require front plates than to states with only a rear plate requirement. Dealers have told me that.

I spoke with 2 dealers in NY about this front license plate bracket issue, and they both gave me the same part number as the NC dealer I bought from. When I told them this bracket doesn't work, they said this is what Ford said to use. I think they haven't actually had to face this problem yet, so they don't really know. It might be a particular combination of new 2025 Maverick, Hybrid model, Lariat trim line in a state requiring a front plate. Seems like Ford may have overlooked this combination.

Anyone have an after-market solution?

There are three dimples in the fascia above the ACC plate for drilling. Depending on the mounting holes of the bracket, it should clear the radar plate.

Looks like part number: SZ6Z17A385CA

Unfortunately, it's nearly $200. Here's an alternative that I found listed on a Reddit Maverick forum ($100) that might work. It looks like it can be mounted on the grill, or on the lower opening off to the side of the sensor.

Maverick, as a rule, do not come with front license plate mounts! I live in VA. My dealer was going to drill holes in my front bumper. Imagine that!

Sorry for this incomplete reply. I purchased my front mount license plate bracket from CS Craven Speed 503-505-6886, www.cscravenspeed.com. No drilling! All you need is a screwdriver! Hope this helps.

Push your dealer, they can get the correct part, they just don't want to! I went through the same issue. I bought my 2024 Lariat Hybrid in Florida. The dealer knew it was being registered in New Jersey, in fact they did the registration paperwork. I fought with them for 2 weeks before they got me the front bracket. Very easy to install but yes you have to drill but there are dimples in the front bumper where you drill. If you need pictures let me know.

My dealer did drill holes. I am in VA as well. Still pissed since the day I seen it. Especially after I specifically told them not to drill anywhere on the front facia of the truck.

Utah does not require front plates. We tossed our front plate mount in the trash. No holes in the front of our 2023 hybrid Lariat.

It’s upsetting that there are still states that require a front tag!! There are several that don’t and it hasn’t created any issues, everyone needs to catch up

Thanks for relating your experience with this issue. And similar to you, my dealer registered the car in NY (which cost me an extra $160, but I have no complaints about the added registration fees, since I wanted it registered before it gets to NY).

Do you happen to have a part number?
And I will show your message to my dealer to confirm it can be done. Thanks.

States opting to forego front license plates often cite cost savings, as producing one plate instead of two saves money
States That Do Not Require Front Plates:
Alabama, Arizona, Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

States That Require Front Plates:
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming
Front plates allow police officers to see the license plate number when approaching a vehicle from the front, facilitating quicker identification for various purposes, including traffic enforcement and investigating potential crimes.
