So do the spacers come with the kit or a separate purchase?
I just took delivery on my 2024 XLT Iconic Silver. It came with the DIBL and black appearance package. I was thinking about adding bed rails, but as @Space said, the mounting holes are covered. Kinda of a bummer that the drill points are not marked on the front.
They should be, but I cannot say for sure since the DIBL and rails were factory installed on mine.

You work yours hard so a liner is definitely the best option. For the rest of us Weekend warriors, I find a lay down bed mat is pretty dang good, and can be removed in seconds to clean underneath. Got mine for 80 bucks before the China tariffs kick in, along with a really well made aluminum bed top for 479. Yes it was all Amazon.
Same. As mine is not a work truck, either, a rubber bed mat is all I need for light hauling. And easy to pull out & clean under it I bought the Ford heavy duty mat with points.

I also had rubber mats in both my F-150s. Never had rust issues under the mats - even in the truck I owned for over 20 years.

is your truck also garaged?

your information is impeccable, but I think someone with a DIBL who doesn't have a tonneau cover *and* parks their truck out in the elements would have a different experience with water retention and rust.

Not garaged, and live in the Pacific North West. Very wet from October to July most years. I have not taken any extra steps to waterproof the bed other than the bed cover. I also noted it in my review, saying that someone who does not have a bed cover might have a different experience.

wow. how's your tonneau been doing at keeping things dry?
Water does come in on the sides where the plastic parts of the bed rail meet and at the top of the bed near the cab. Water does run under the DIBL when it rains all day, or during periods of heavy rain without a doubt. I park on a slope at home, with the bed facing down the slope, so I can see the water coming out under the tailgate. Not like it would be with an open bed, of course, and I'm sure most of the moisture runs out of the sides of the bed when am I parked on level ground. Water getting in doesn't bother me too much, the bed cover is more for security of my tools than anything else.

When camping I just keep everything in bins to be sure it's dry.

I've always used the drop in bed liner. Never had a problem with rust. Have one in my '24 Maverick from Ford and had one in my '22 Maverick. I really don't need it now but it's there if I need it. Have not taken it out but don't think I'll find any problems if I do,
