The paint on my Ford OEM hard trifold cover is faded when I took delivery. Has anyone else noticed this and was anyone able to restore it to the original dark black color?

Don't know about restoring, but I plan to regularly apply some 303 to mine when I get it. Same to the black plastic trim on the Maverick sides. Sun damage to plastic and vinyl is a reality.

Aren’t the panels made of painted aluminum, not plastic?

Did you guys try to make any warranty claims for the fading?

I was deliverying Car parts to Carmax in KC in my work delivery Maverick XL. I spotted an XLT they just took in so I had to check out the window sticker, $38,998. Wow. While I'm waiting for mine to come in i'm checking out the tonneu covers so I checked out the cover and it is a Ford hard tri-fold. It looked nice but it was about a 1/4" short of the tailgate, no protection from the elements or dirt and might be really easy to jimmy open. Is there problem with the ford trifold?

That one is likely positioned incorrectly (too far forward). I've had mine on and off a couple of times, and it's easy to position it so it overlaps the tailgate while still "sealing" up front.

Now as to "protection from the elements"... In a hard, driving rain, some water WILL get in. But that's true of every folding tonneau cover I've ever seen. I've driving it a few times in those conditions - once on a 4-hour trip - and I would estimate that maybe a 1/2 cup of water managed to get in. It wasn't even pooled - just a bit of dampness on the bed near the front corners. (And I haven't added any additional weather stripping to mine, as recommended by most reviewers.)

I tried cerakote for trim and it appears to work on the aluminum cover.
