Buy a nice Garmin throw it up on the dash power if from one of the charging ports and be done with it - I have one I move between vehicles it works great

So i opted to use an ODBII adapter to power my Garmin W67 dash cam with 1080p, 30 FPS came with all the features one could ever want! Wifi, Bluetooth, time-lapse and much more. Using the ODBII adapter, you can control how long the unit gets power, from full time to power on with vehicle start abd shut off shortly after engine stop.

It's basically the size of a credit card and fantastic video and audio quality! With no concerns about voiding any kind of warranty! Wires can easily be hidden and route up the drivers side a pilar..
You can download video directly to your phone thru the drive app. No cost for the app BTW. you can set alerts for traffic situations, such as collision alerts. Voice commands to save a video of the prior 60 seconds, as well as to tell it to go into time-lapse if you was r to save a cool video of a route you want to view later. I'm running a 256 gig replaceable memory card. Which can easily captures months worth of drives!
So having owned this unit for the past 3 years, and it's still working great, I would say it's a very good alternative to an overpriced dealer installed unit.

I bought the ford supplied and installed Thinkware camera. They did not have the owners manual, gave me the installation manual. So I went back to get the manual (tossed it away with the packaging) and not one person knew how to operate it. I went online and downloaded the manual and to this date have yet to get the memory card and software downloaded to my computer to sync. Go to Best Buy and get one, they won’t let you leave without proving it works and you know how to operate it.

The only reason I had them install and ordered from was because I wanted it hard wired and didn’t want to void any warranty. But your trolling is noted.

I agree with your logic and would have the same with purchasing the Dash cam from Ford and have them install it. I am sure if a third party installed it incorrectly, Ford would use that as a reason to void your warranty.

Yes Ford or any auto maker will find a way to void a warranty if you alter or add something. If a dealership for example installs a lift or lowering kit they alone back up the warranty and work. If you have that done and have drive train problems they will try to void it plain and simple!

I have the Thinkware F200 Pro system. It is one of the ones on the Ford Accessories website. It says it has WiFi, it does but that's only for connection to your mobile phone device, not a data connection to the web (if that's the correct terminology). It connects to my phone only if I'm in the Maverick or standing beside it. It won't even connect to my home WiFi 30' away.

I think Tesla cars have factory cams that see all around the car and can record. I believe standard equipment. I hear BMW may also.

Yup. That was going to be my comment, but you beat me to it. Pretty much all of the EV’s from Tesla, Mercedes and BMW have camera based auto pilot of some sort and send the data to a usb drive. Mini has it too, since they are owned by BMW. And 2024+ Toyota and Lexus are pre wired for dealer installed Toyota branded integrated dash cams.
