I just want to give everyone a heads up. I have the ford rolling hard top cover for my Maverick (I believe it’s the BakFlip G2?). This cover is less than a year old and all of the glue used to secure seals and the protective felt from the underside of the cover have all peeled or fallen completely off. Also my ford logo (viewable when the cover is rolled up) isn’t even in alignment. Pics below. It’s my understanding that the new covers don’t even include the ford logo (probably for this reason). For $1,200 and a factory option I’m utterly shocked and disappointed. I’d recommend looking into other options. I’ve reached out to the BakFlip support team (no response), and when I take my truck in for its first oil change I’ll show the employees there. These pics are ones I sent to BakFlip. When I checked last night all of the l had fallen off. All the seals along the rear of the cover have split.

I saw a video on YouTube about some guy that went through 3 of that version (under warranty). Then he got sent a new version that doesn’t have that issue. I believe that fabric is just there to give you something that’s not scorching to touch in the summer.

Looks like the newer model doesn’t have the issue.

Yeah I’m hoping I can get this resolved. Do we know if going through the companies customer service is the best course of action versus Ford? Just trying to figure out who I’ll need to push up against moving forward to try and get this addressed.

I really love this cover and want this to work. I just don’t want to be gluing it back together every month of the summer.

I believe that's a (Ford branded) BAK 'Revolver X2' -vs- a G2 (which is hard tri-folding).

Also, BAK 'Revolver X4' looks different on the underside and perhaps better.

If it was a Factory installed option it will likely only be warranted by Ford.

good luck!....

I have the X4S, bought after I got the truck. It does not have the felt. Also, it seems the newest factory roll ups do not have the and do not have the Ford underneath either.

Not for nothing but even though you have a 3year/36000 warranty I would go to dealer before 12 months has passed.
Never know what kind of shenanigans they might try to pull

I had the same problem. Just removed the felt and used goo off to remove the glue. No problems since. I roll it on the side if it’s too hot to touch the aluminum. I’m sure they would cover it under warranty just don’t want to be without my truck.

That’s interesting as I started to do the same thing today. As my felt came completely off. I took pics of it. Im still going to try and contact the dealer to see what they can do.

Well in removing the remaining felt from underside of the cover, an easy job as it had already fallen off, became very tedious it getting all the glue off! Like two bottles of Goo Be Gone! However it’s about 95% cleaned off now. Working still as I have time on the rest. One thing I learned very quickly this weekend was why that felt exists. Even with the cover closed, black side up, when you attempt to roll it up in the NC sun it is scorching on both sides of the cover. Ouch!!
So if they aren’t willing to replace this, I’ll have to find a solution as it is untouchable in the summer.

Mine was replaced under warranty. No more felt. No Ford logo. Rained for 36 hours. Just checked. There was just a little water in the bed. Not leakproof.

An alternate to Goo Be Gone (might also be less expensive, I haven't price compared) that is especially useful removing adhesive from food-touching items: cooking oil. The non-polar nature of cooking oil works well to remove non-polar adhesives. Takes a little more elbow grease than the solvent-based adhesive removers, but you don't have to worry about how much poison is left to transfer to food...

Maybe a kludge solution for the potential of burning your hands on the hot cover in the summer is hang a pair of work gloves from the release cord. That way they are always available and remind you to use them, instead of hiding them in the in-bed storage bin where you might forget about them.

I had the same problems with mine that I order with the Maverick from the factory. Tonneau was replaced under warranty and does not have the Ford logo , however instead of the Felt it has rubber attachments.
This top is tighter and much improved, works great and looks and works the same.

Well today I got a reply from Real Truck/Bak Flip. They assigned me a warranty case number and asked me to set up an appointment at my local Ford dealer to conduct the inspection and file the claim! I feel like this is a great step and my truck is about due for an oil change. So I’ll be calling and passing along the info! Fingers crossed!
