Oh, I wish...

That is, by far, the biggest complaint about this vehicle. The USB storage device is practically worthless on long road trips unless you take the time to create a massive playlist ahead of time.

If anyone has any idea how to disable this nuisance, please point us in the right direction.

The old school (2005) work around was:

The radio/head unit had a vehicle speed sensor (vss) wire.

I put a switch in-line to this signal.
Open switch = 0 mph = all features available. Closed switch, stock operation.

What I did, but not responsible if you do it. I stood a 28# bag of cat litter on the seat and used a ratchet strap under the front bottom of the seat and cranked it down until the seatbelt off turned to on. Ignition must be on. Now strap the seatbelt. Search a USB to your hearts content. Crank in small steps as it takes a few seconds for the switch. I feel ok with this as I use lane centering and ACC. I assume you all realize with a passenger you can search. May have to respond to the "Are you the passenger" query. I will be experimenting a bit more for a lower profile solution. Not going to drive 7 hours without some choices in entertainment. DO at your own RISK.

Alright, I promise I'll post this weekend. It wasn't that hard to figure out though, was under ACM I think and the verbage made it easily identifiable as to which feature to disable

Tod y'all it was easy lol
Yep, it was just that easy. 5 months of frustration because I was not confident enough to look around in FORscan. Confirmed with a quick test drive and no more nanny!

With a passenger, it made no difference, at least on my Lariat (non-lux). The cat litter trick wouldn't help. FORscan fix however does work as advertised.

That's weird. Why would lux make a difference. I need to find someone in the area with forscan.
