Fobless key just to unlock door

I don't know if physical key will lock driver's door but electrical doors won't lock with fob inside cab unless it's in faraday cage. The key pad on door will since you are certifying you know combo.

Put key in ignition and then noticed trash can had been emptied, so got out closed door and put can away.
Door was auto-locked on me when I returned.
Had to use Fordpass to unlock.

Might want to test your statement on Mav without remote start on key, that level of option may behave differently.

So how does the Anti-Theft Alarm System work with those keys with no or not programmed transponders?
Or the fact a good key to start it is sitting inside is the reason why it works?
I usually like having that flat spare key in wallet, just in case a lockin happens.

Wonder if battery dies quicker with key inside - truck makes enough noises already doing things.

When getting out and pulling on the open lever it is easy to push the manual lock toggle for the door you are exiting and pushing on door without realizing and lock the door. I believe that if any of the other doors are unlocked they will remain unlocked, not sure though.
EDIT to add:
When I get out to get mail, open gate or whatever I put mode into neutral and set the electric parking brake. And usually leave door open. This will reset the "this trip" back to start a new trip! Down side of Lariat fob is the double honk "exit while carrying fob".

Only if you have remote start option on fob.
Check manual for the 2 fob styles.

Where did you get that key made? I went to a locksmith in Asheville NC, he told me he could not make one. He referred me to a locksmith in Black Mountain who said he could cut that key for $60. Seemed ridiculously high. I had a metal key cut for my 2009 F-150 a few years ago, no chip just blank metal key got $9.

Ozark Lock and Key, Eureka Springs,Ark. cut the metal key for me.

When I got a spare fob key cut, the locksmith wanted to make sure she could cut the key before she did it. So she cut a metal test key first. She didn't want to f up the fob key I had bought if her machine couldn't cut it correctly. The metal key worked to open the door and tailgate, so she went ahead and used her machine to cut the fob key. I programmed the fob myself and she gave me the metal test key, no charge.
