Fleet Only Colors

So according to Ford Authority Carbonized Gray and Iconic Silver are now going to be fleet only colors. Interesting move. I wonder why? They both are probably not high take rates but why fleet only? My Carbonized Gray Tremor just became a unicorn because I doubt anyone would order the Tremor through fleet.

Bizarre. Carbonized Gray is probably what I would've ordered if I had gone for a 2024 XLT last month. Both it and silver are great colors. Meanwhile, you can get a max-spec Lariat Tremor in white, which is usually a "fleet" color... no offense to the owners with awesome pandas around here.

Interesting. Most of the fleet vehicles or ones that I see with company logos are either Oxford White or Shadow Black. I rarely ever see Carbonized Grey or Iconic Silver for those purposes. Those are always on regular Mavericks. Not a fan of either color since they're so boring and blend in too well with everyone else. I'm the outcast who wants something that pops, hence my Hot Pepper Red.

Those two colors are fleet only with XL trim. Fully available for retail customers in XLT and Lariat trim levels.

I think the author is confused. Those colors became fleet only on just the XL trim level this year. Why would Ford make a change to paint colors this late in the model year? I can still go to the Ford website and build an XLT in those colors but the article says they are not available now.

You are right. I just tried, and you can't build an XL in gray/silver, but you can on XLT/Lariat.

I think Ford is seeing that the demand for those colors in XLT/Lariat is still outpacing supply, and if someone wants to special-order a $35k truck, why give that up for a one-off $25k XL?

I cannot understand this! This would have been a deal breaker with me. My truck sits in the sun all day, and I had to have a light color. My only choices were the Silver (which my last 3 cars have been) or White. I hate white. Had my only option been white, I would not have bought a Maverick. Ipso fatso. Ford's bean counters are going to screw around and lose customers.
