23 XLT Hybrid with 5000 miles on it. Took it on my first sustained highway trip a few days ago. At higher speeds (70-75) I hear what seems like a flapping noise coming from driver side front. It comes and goes but is consistent. Wind seems to affect it as well. It does not appear to be an engine issue ( ran fine). I heard this a couple of times before on short runs on highway, mainly while accelerating from 65 to 75
wondering if it could be a loose front damper? I checked mud flaps and fender flares and they are tight. Any thoughts would be appreciated

If you had an oil change or for any reason the shield under the engine was removed for service, I would start there.

Hard to describe how the shield fits, but the aft edge tucks up on the frame member. Also check that all the T30 fasteners are in place. I forget exactly how many there are - 13 ???

P.S. In addition to the engine shield, look at the spoiler under the front bumper and the little ones in front of each wheel. They are easily damaged when heading into a parking spot with a high curb or a parking block etc.

Another: check that the insulation piece at the fender and A-pillar in front of the door is wedged in place securely.
Will do. Thank you

This- Mine completely came loose and would make noise- It doesn't even have a clip just wedges in- Kind of odd.

Thank you thank you thank-you!!!!!!
I've had this noise going on for about 4 months. 3 dealers couldn't find it. I found it this morning. The foam block was laying on top of the driver side fender. I removed it and the noise is gone. Now I just have to figure out how to reinstall it.

Don’t suppose you have a pic that would I’d where yours was in the door/fender do you? I want to make sure I am looking at the right thing. Still have the noise but what I checked was wedged fairly tight. Thanks for this info. Driving me crazy

šŸ¤” First off, I'm guessing that you do not have a soft tonneau cover?
I believe the post below shows the area between the outer fender and the inner fender where the insulation is. I hope this helps.
Good luck.

My hands are all sliced up trying to figure out how to best put these pieces in. Can anyone who had these installed at the factory post a picture from inside the door and the engine compartment please?

Got these two sound insulators for $15 each and probably can get a truck load from any arts and crafts store for that price. Nothing special to them, no indentations, just a 6.25ā€ x 3.25ā€ x 2.5ā€ poly fiber thing.

Posting pictures on how I installed, driver and passenger sides. Like MetalThunder said, it made the most sense to put them there and cover the gap. But it looks kind of crappy and out of place.
