Just a couple of photos to show different length boards in the Ford Maverick. I have the bed extender which works very well for this purpose and longer boards.

First is the 9'8" SUP with the bed extender down. I likely wouldn't try to put this in the bed without the extender.

Next up is my 6'5" Softtop with the bed extender removed - it actually will lay flat with the tailgate down and bed extender out (2nd pic)

Last is one is a 8'0" softtop loaded in with the bed extender removed. Fits very nicely. Not sure I'd try longer than a 8'0 without the bed extender or some racks although I used to do 9' boards in my 5' Frontier bed. I have a tailgate pad as well that can be used that has tie downs for boards.

No problem. I have some 10'6" SUP's I'll also show on the extender as well as some 9' surfboards.

I'll also do some photos of kayaks in there when it warms up.

I'm getting racks regardless but for right now still can get my SUP in there for some winter surfing.

Looks great! Exactly why I got mine with the bed extender. Curious what it would look like with 3 boards loaded together. I have a 9’0” Longboard, 9’10”SUP, 9’8” Kayak. I love the keyless entry so you don’t have to hide keys outside of the truck.

Don't forget you can always adjust your tailgate at an angle so that the board would have some resistance to falling out and be easier to tie down, and The best part itcomes with the truck

Ive loaded 3 boards but they were all 6ft or under....lol. I also made a cross beam for the front of the bed with a yoga mat wrapped around it for the boards to rest the nose on. I'll snap a pic tomorrow.

Great post. I have a 10+ foot SUP, that is inflatable. I have set-up my 12V connection in the bed for my pump. I fold it in half inside the bed and inflate quickly when I get to the put in.

I am thinking about getting a combo (Bed rack plus at least one cross bar on the roof) for carrying it inflated.

Looks great. Does anyone know whether or not the bed extender will flip into the bed with a Truxedo lo-pro or x15 since the rails for those tonneaus mount on the inside rim of the bed?

Favor to ask: Could you take a pic with the tailgate in the halfway position and no extender?

Wondering if my 10' SUP could tiedown to the half-opened gate...

Thanks for showing this!

Been waiting for surfboard pics for months! Thanks for sharing. Glad to know my 8 foot board will be ok without the bed extender. Had been considering getting the Yakima racks, but don't think I need to now.

Yeah, as pointed out you can also do the bed in the half-extended position which would give you plenty of room! So even with a 9' board you could probably get away with just lowering the tailgate.

Here’s my 6’ fish. Didn’t feel like hauling out the 8’6 but others already have examples.

I think with the tailgate in the half position you’ll be fine without the bed extender.
