I think the more practical thing would be to print the FITS tab as a bracket that could be screwed to an off the shelf trash can or .......................
The OP's work is neat but 19 hours of work + material is a ton of work for the result.
That's kinda what I was thinking. A bracket/snap-on that you could glue to an existing, small garbage can.

I actually suggested this to my cousin but we thought since you’re going to be printing the trash can out anyway you don’t gain much by printing them separate. unless you were to use a store bought trash can then that would be an option as long as it fits

I'm paying $26,000 for my Maverick so $235 for a 3D Printer is a bargain and you can never have enough cool toys. I'm also retired so I do have time and plan to make other items for the Maverick FITS slots.

I would also like the file if he is willing to share.

i texted him this morning to try and see about the file so i will get back to you today!

a ton of work for the printer*

literally only took us less than an hour of actual work including design and then its a “set it and forget it” machine, you remember the old tv ads ;)

But then the cool MaverickTruckClub Logo that is on this design would be missing.

That is awesome! Nice work. A tad big, but I still want one.
The tallness I believe is necessary because of the weight. If it was shorter then all the weight would be on the FITs tab but by being tall the weight is supported by the floor. Also don't forget that trash put in it also adds weight.

MTC sticker if/when available will fix that.

I like the idea of printing the FITS tab with screw holes for attachment to a bought trash can.
Think of it as an adapter!

Until hour 17 when the reel jams and s**ts the bed on your print.

You use PLA filament? That stuff is a no go for vehicles. It deforms when it gets hot inside the vehicle. Anyone that is 3D printing parts for their vehicle should use PETG or ABS. Much more temp resistance

Seems to me you coulda printed a little tab to take 2 screws and then just screwed in a $5 trash can from ikea. Surely wouldn’t take as long, be more ship able, and allow a multitude of items to be screwed onto it.

edit, didn’t read all the other replies. DOH!

for people who don’t have easy access to resources like a 3D printer would be better off searching for a trash can that fits and then getting someone to print off a FITS piece to attach it to.

I appreciate people’s input but if you think there’s a better way to do it then do it. I wanted a custom trash can that fit my design in my head with the trash bag stay and all. so that’s what i did.

not everyone can design a trash can in less than an hour and print it off with ease first try. so i understand why people might be reluctant to do this…for me..it was the better way to go.

the weight would also be greatly reduced by making the walls thinner. so you could factor that in but this thing is solid and doesn’t rattle or make a peep when driving over bumps.
