Anyone put any thoughts on how to travel long trips with fishing poles? Most of my driving will be fishing tournament related either towing the boat or not. My longest rod is probably 7’ 1”
Anyone have similar concerns?
I placed my order and figured that I’d come up with a solution one way or another

Looks like a good excuse to buy new fishing pole. One that breaks down into 2 pcs or telescopic

I had the same concern I like to always have a pole in my truck bed with a cover and lock the bed my main pole is 6’6” fineness pole I was thinking if I leave the cubby compartment open I can stick the butt end of the pole in there and it’ll lay flat only one way to find out lol

I've always used the sliding window and a rubber band.

Those just don’t have the same features unfortunately 😔. I always keep a telescoping one around just Incase. Even in the work truck 😂

As we talked about in a similar thread, sounds like a good reason to make a FITS accessory that can hold the butt of 2-4 poles in the back seat with the tips extending out the sliding rear window.

I'm no fisherman, but if I were, i'd build a headache rack type structure and run long 4" pvc pipes up over the cab.

When I lived in Charleston, I used a diy of this rod holder. It still left space for cooler, tackle boxed etc. I made it so it was lockable.

Could you go long distances at turnpike speeds? I like the look of it

Yes. I traveled I95 and HWY 17 up and down NC/SC coast from Wilmington to Hilton Head with no issues. The poles are in an aerodynamic position and they were secured to the bar. The rods had a rougher ride on the boat than what the highway could throw at them. I almost did two changes: 1. Buy some sunbrella fabric on closeout to make rod sleeves to give a little more protection for eyes and against the sun. 2. Add another bar on railing for rods to rest on along with the bottom bar. I didn't do it because I ended up adding more storage space by putting a Thule cradle on the cab roof which gave the poles more protection.
