Funny how that works, isn't it?

I remember hitting the door I left opened on my Taurus with my riding lawnmower. It bent the lower tip of the door outwards. Other than being ugly, it didn't affect the function of the door. I really don't know if I would have took it as well if someone else did that.

If I do something ignorant, it was an accident. If someone else did the same thing, they might have done it on purpose.

I know how easily these things can happen, seen it twice in the last few months by my wife and myself. At least not on my still missing Maverick. It will be even less forgiving because of it's larger wheels and lower profile tires. At least the alloys we screwed up still had the bead on the edge to take the blow. Need to keep awareness.

1 new rim would probably cost less than an insurance claim, or just file it down and don’t care.

My wife curbed her own beautiful wheels on her own car and didn’t care. Her opinion: it still holds air, car still rolls.

"Why did you come back from work?"
"The car (A Subaru Forester) is making a funny noise."
I looked at it,...."Did it steer funny too?"
"Uh huh."
But, at least the rim was okay.

Having lived in New England where the roads are terrible I got acquainted with my local wheel repair shop while running low profile tires on my Focus ST. They do amazing work for relatively cheap money. He used to charge me $100 per wheel to repair which was nothing compared to an OEM replacement or going through insurance. Wheel repair shops and paintless dent repair workers are miracle workers in the land of errant shopping carts and wives with questionable driving skills

I've clipped a curb or two with my FX4 and luckily, with the 17" wheel/tire combo, there is enough cushion that it didn't scuff the wheels. The longer wheelbase on the Maverick has taken some time to adjust. My previous vehicles were shorter.
