We got a bit of a break last night when we got a call from our original sales rep, an experienced guy who has been out after knee replacement surgery.

(He’s not officially back to work yet, but was getting restless sitting at home. He just got the OK to drive, so he came in to the dealership to check on things … like our order.)

First, he was surprised we didn’t have the truck yet, since it was built 12/01. We told him we didn’t get the “Shipped” notice until 1/02, but were told it should be here in a few more weeks,

And we told him we were still waiting for our private offer to come through, and that the rep we have been dealing with since he’s been out said he was working on it with the sales mgr … but no one has yet said they’d heard back from their new Ford Inventory Specialist, who is the guy who needs to make this happen.

Anyway, we have reason now to be optimistic, since our original sales rep said he’d make some calls and follow up to make sure it gets done.

He called back not long afterward to say he verified with Ford that they do show both our MY22 and MY23 orders in the system … but the two still need to be connected by the inventory specialist before our private offer certificate would show up.

So he said he’d follow up on Monday, once he gets the contact info for the new Ford guy who needs to do this.

**** Even more exciting, though, is that we asked him to check on where our truck is, and he was able to see that it had made it cross-country and was off the train, sitting in the New Castle, Del., rail yard and waiting to get on a truck for the 2-hr ride up here.

System showed the truck is supposed to be at the dealership on 1/30 — and yikes, that’s Monday!

We’ll believe that when we actually see it, but we were prepared to wait another two weeks, so excellent news.

My journey was just over a year on my order. I truly feel for others who have waited much, much longer then me. I finally got my 2023 Maverick Lariat Hybrid, with Lux package, Copilot 360 and Copilot 360 Assist, yesterday, 01/26/2023. I absolutely love it. Although purchase date was yesterday, I've had it since Monday as a loaner so I could drive it and have it in my possession while I waited for my dealer to continue working on my "Private Offer" with Ford. When the private offer never showed up after truck was built and shipped, I got onto my sales manager about it. My dealer, who I also work for, realized they screwed up on my 2022 order by not getting it COVP approved, which is why it never showed up under my account. My sales manager has over 20 yrs experience dealing with Ford on these type of issues. I'm sure he was much more persistent working with Ford on this because I'm an employee there, and it is a "we are family" type of dealership. But after 11 days, Ford approved my private offer and issued a certificate number for my purchase yesterday.

So if you had a 2022 order that wasn't built, reordered a 2023 and didn't get a private offer, there is hope that it can be done. I'm sure it will depend a lot on your sales manager experience, their relationship with Ford contacts and their willingness to work on it.

I finally got my new ford too. My wait was a little longer though. They threw in the Black Appearance Package for free> Ha! Ha!

Nice looking Model A. My grandfather bought one brand new, and my grandmother drove it through the front window of the bank where he worked... She was trying to park, and forgot to take it out of gear before hitting the brake, then go flustered when it was "lurching"... She was so embarrassed, but he just laughed it off.

When I was a kid living in Brazil in 1958, we had a fairly early Model A "Phaeton" convertible with roll-down side windows that did absolutely nothing to keep out rain... And it rained a LOT during monsoon season! Ours had three rows of seats, and a (very small) baggage area behind the 3rd row. It may have been "modified" after it got to Brazil, since I have never seen pictures of one that looked like it. It was also blue with the "Black Appearance Package" like yours. LOL We drove it for two years as our only vehicle, and it never let us down or left us stranded.

But it was less "black" than the 1913 Model T (available in any color you like, as long as that color was black) that we bought in the mid-60s. I think we paid around $100 for it at the time. Totally unoriginal body, with angle-iron seats complete with rock-hard plywood seating surfaces. It was the 2nd car I ever got to drive... Dad made the mistake of saying "If you can crank it and get it started, you can drive it." Never challenge a 15-yr old boy like that! It became my job after that to start the "T"...

That car was a real experience... I loved it! Three pedals (brake, reverse, and low/high gear selector). The throttle was a stalk on the right side of the steering wheel, and there was a "spark advance" on the left side of the wheel that we aren't sure ever really worked - at least it seemed to have little impact on the engine's performance.

The carb floats were shot, and there were none to be found in Brazil, so one of us always rode laying down on the running board with the door removed... It was that person's job to turn off the fuel petcock when the carb started overflowing, and turn it back on when the engine started sputtering. Fun times!

Definitely not OSHA approved... Very different times!

That is excellent news! I pray that they get the private offer deal for you as well. It really makes a difference!

Great looking truck!

Would you mind telling us the dealer you used/work for? I have an order in with Bolton Ford in Lake Charles, LA and I am apprehensive as what to expect when I finally receive my hybrid Lariat Lux, 360, 360 assist?

Bolton Ford is it. I've been driving for them for 4 years. They really have some good people in sales. They are typically number one in the state and their 5 state region. I have no doubt that some people may have a bad experience like any other dealer but for the most part, they are very well received by the public. If your truck is built and shipped, get back with me and I'll check in on your salesperson.
