Strangely, since ordering a Maverick, I've started looking at trucks in the wild, and it's very rare to see a late model truck with rails or racks on the cab. They're pretty common on SUVs and minivans, but I'm mostly only seeing racks on truck beds, not cabs of trucks.
Must pickups are usually work trucks and use the bed rails for ladders, etc.. Besides, who needs a roof rack when you have a full sized bed? SUVs and stuff are usually personal use vehicles so that might explain that. The mav is going to be different since it's smaller. One of the first things I want to do is get aftermarket roof bars and a cargo rack. When we go on vacation or camping we need all the space we can get.

I'm going to work on a roof rack that mounts above the bed rails. That will add an entire 2nd level of cargo capacity with the bed cover closed.
Just curious, why do you want two levels? If the roof rack and bed racks are even you can use them for long stuff like ladders, lumber or kayaks.

So does the roof come with pre-drilled holes to mount the rails too?
I'd like to know too. See youtube for "how to install oem ford escape roof rack" and there are bolt holes under the roof seam cover. maybe since maverick is made from the same escape platform those will fit also.

I have a tandem kayak that is 13.5 feet long. I would love a roof rack I could use and then get one of those trailer hitch arms as well. Better than it sticking out of the bed 10 feet :)

Yeah I want to be able to carry a canoe or kayak but I have to get the truck first. :(

I'd like to either have the roof and bed racks parallel so I can lay things across the whole thing or have the bed rack up above the roof so I can use a roof cargo rack and still have space for the canoe. We shall see.

I am considering the same. Pondering how to transfer some of weight from bed walls to bed and keep water intrusion down.

Excellent. surely those mounting spots will be there. Then may have to fit roof rails for desired height to match bed rack height and level all

Im thinking something like this. Look at the image where the roof rack and LongArm are used together. That way you dont have a bed rack that takes up space all the time. https://yakima.com/products/longarm

Yes that is an option for some light weight long loads. What I am concerned with is reinforced roof mounts that would bolt to roof and distribute load evenly along length of roof. I do not like clamp on style roof mounts. I could make that work for light loads, mounted where tailgate could be operated and with light bar plugged into 4pin trailer connection.

here’s a Bed Rack that might be what you want
This looks like it might work for me. I have a 5' cargo carrier for my Escape that I want to be able to use on the Maverick with a bed cover.

They aren't Mavericks. I would love to have roof racks/rails
