Does anyone know if the Maverick has an extra brake wire in the wiring harness near the rear of the bed like many full size trucks do? It's my understanding that the wire usually exits the wiring harness somewhere around the spare tire area and is folded back and taped to the loom and is intended to be used to power the brake light on the rear of a topper. I'm looking to add a simple LED brake light under the tailgate and this would be ideal for powering it. I spent some time under the back of my truck yesterday with a flashlight but couldn't see the wire anywhere.

Would be cool for adding a trailer brake controller also. But don't count on it.

In the wiring diagrams for the 2023 model, I see connections from the BCM (Body Control Module) to both rear stop/turn lamps as well as the high-mount stop lamp (yellow + gray stripe), but I cannot find any hint of the extra line you seek.

Thanks, I suspect it's not provided on the Maverick. I did find a wire shown as "taped to harness", looking at a 2014 F-150 diagram, but I don't see anything similar on the Maverick diagrams.

This is the F-150 diagram:

It looks like I will need one of these 2 wire to 3 wire converters to get a dedicated brake wire. However most of them say they don't work with LED lights, but I'm guessing that is just the turn signal portion.

Thanks! that hadn't come up in my searches, it's exactly what I need. Same price but it's smaller and only does what I need.

I added the Pacer-Performance logic module to my LED tailgate brake light and that did the trick. Video shows turn signals, brake and turn signals with brake.

Hi there! I have a similar setup to you, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have the pacer performance module taking the brake light from both left and right tail lights. The light bar I have installed will work when the brake lights are pressed down. However, when I use either the left or right turn signal with the brake light pressed down, the light bar I added starts flashing along with the turn signal.

Did you do anything different that I might be missing? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Are you using LED bulbs in your tail lights? I don't think the Pacer module will work with LED bulbs, since it relies on a ground path through the bulbs which LEDs don't provide.

Nope, they’re stock bulbs from Ford. Not LEDs. I also read somewhere that would be a potential issue.

For you, was it as simple as grabbing both turn signal wires and connecting them to the Pacer module’s yellow wires? Do you recall which color wire you tapped in each tail light?

Curious how the backup camera looks at night, or is the new bar tucked under enough no direct red light into camera while backing?

Looks nice, and good solution.

It's back under the tailgate far enough that the camera doesn't see it, maybe a slight red glow on top of the bumper if you look close.

Yes, I wired it just like the diagram. I don't recall for sure the color of the wires in the tail lights, I think it was red. I just used a voltmeter to determine which wire had voltage when the turn signal was flashing.

Does your light bar stay off when just the turn signal is flashing (no brake press), tested with both left and right signals?
