Ford Maverick Exterior black plastic panels fading from sunlight? 20220515_133252

About 4k miles on it. All the plastics looked like this. Figured I would take a picture to show how bad it was this last weekend during my detail day.

I'm using Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating - Walmart - and am closing in on 7K miles. I consider it to be a Go-To product and find that it does not leave a film. It's nice because I can spray it on the black trim, tires, wheels, and paint then wipe it off the painted surfaces. For the tires I just let it soak in and dry. For the black plastic trim it pretty much dries and doesn't need a wipe-off. Overall I like this product and use it on the golf cart too.

Wow that's worse than I figured I was gonna see. I live up in Maine where they paint the roads in Salt so thick that your car will rust out in a matter of a few years so mine get washed frequently (also got military grade undercoating and protectant from Line-X) but I have had it for 7 months now and haven't experienced the fading but after seeing some of these I may throw some extra protectant on the plastics too

The plastic outlast the metal? I got some spray turtle ceramic spray and the ceracote, recommendations from here, I will try both and determine which one I like. I was kinda disappointed that the ceracote was just some wipes?

Let me know how it goes. The Cerakote ceramic should outlast the turtle ceramic spray by a long time. The turtle wax is easy to use and all, but in my experience, it doesn’t last very long.

Ok, thanks for that info, I will keep it in mind. The Cerakote just blows my mind, I am old school, not familiar with treated wipes, except hand sanitizer for covid.

I will do a side by side comparison, this side of the plastic was treated with cerakote and this side was treated with turtle spray ceramic, sounds like one of those old school infomercials!

I am anxious to see results..

I have to agree the turtle spray is very easy to use, I cleaned my wheels and then just shot the tire and wheel, like u said, I left the tire wet, and buffed the wheels. First time I cleaned the wheels that well. The Lariat wheels, has all kinds of places to clean, then there's aluminum and black paint.

I watched the vid for the cerakote and they emphasized dry, dry, dry before application, which would be tideous. I just 303th my plastic, so I don't think I want to strip, reclean, and then coat with cerakote. I am going to let the 303 rinse and wear off and then revisit in a week or two.

I have other mods I can do until then.

After a lot of YouTube comparisons. I purchased some Cerakote and used it on our Ford van at work. Initially, I too was disappointed they were wipes, but they were well saturated and the application went on good. This was about a month ago. I think it has held up well. If it really last for 200 washes then the work van should be good for the next 20 years :)

I'll probably use Cerakote on my Maverick when I get it.

I bought some Cerakote for my Maverick too. I will be applying it in the next few days and will report back.

Adams Graphene Ceramic spray advanced. Truck has 13,896 miles and spends most of its time on construction sites... I used Meguiars hybrid ceramic spray as a part of my normal wash routine until i finally had the time to strip it clean and use the Adam's. Super easy to wash now
