Extending Your Factory Warranty on Hybrid XLT

Got a call from the dealer today since my door to door warranty expires in just over a month. They offered to extend it an additional 7 years or 150,000kms for $5791 CAD. I would finance that with a little bit down at 0% interest. Works out to be $180/mo for 30 months. The shop rate for my dealer is $159CAD/Hr.

Just wondering how that stacks up to the offers you guys have got and if you think it's worth it on a 2022 Hybrid XLT Lux Package

seems ridiculously high - that's $4k in USD - over here you can get a factory warranty thru a dealer called 'Granger' for about $1500 for 100k and 7 years premium coverage - they highly discount the warranty (they make a lot less on it than other dealers) but other dealers you can get if for $2k or so . I too just (2 days ago) bought a 100,000, 5 year from Granger for $1295 (US). Probably won't keep my MAV for that long but 5 years was only 45 dollars more than 4 years.

Remember, the warranty is transferable to the next owner when you sell. You will get a better price for your truck with a 100K mile warranty!

Personally, I would not go to a different dealer for the warranty. Your local Ford dealer has to do the work, but they don't have to make it convenient for you i.e. your Mav may sit a few hours, or days, before "They can get to it!" I would ask them, if they can match Granger's quote.

The service departments don't care where you bought the Ford factory warranty. They get paid, regardless.

I paid $3000 including tax for 10 years. I've never purchased an extended warranty until buying the Maverick. I figured with technology, hybrid and trans, it would be a good idea. Knowing what I do now with all the quality issues, I'm glad I did. It is refundable prorated and transferable. Yes I know Ford covers the hybrid system for 80k or 10 years.

5, as in 2 years past the standard?

I've never bought an extended warranty until yesterday. For our Toyota Sienna. 7yr/125k $0 deductible. $1370
Ford's price was too much. I'll take the gamble on my $24k truck.
Only reason I thought to buy the Sienna warranty is we might get a Scamp and be towing soon.

If your dealer sells a none Ford warranty they get as much as $200 commission. Like recommending a bank loan. With the loan they get a commission but with some loans, if you pay off early theyhave to pay some of it back.

Since you are in Canada, do not buy a warranty from a US dealer. The warranty will not cover a Canadian market Ford vehicle. Just in case this wasn't clear from earlier posts.

Don't waste money on a third party warranty, if you get extended at least get the Ford one. Even then it can be hard to get work approved, at least that's what the service guys a my dealership told me.

I'm in Canada - When I bought my last truck I negotiated the extended warranty as part of the deal. They sold it to me for way, WAY less than the retail price. IIRC it was getting close to half price.

There's a huge markup on warranties, shop around!

I'm in Canada too and no kidding, I called a few dealerships and the prices ranged from $6400 to $3995 for the same package! I think the $3995 is worth extending this 3 year another 7 years. Apparently, after the 7 years I can also get a used vehicle warranty
