Hi all. I originally added on an engine block heater even though it doesn't get crazy cold around me, it can still be nice in the winter to get on the road quicker.

That said I went to go put a Noco extension so that I could plug it in without ever opening the hood like this:

Went to go install today and for some reason I don't think my engine block heater works at all. Removing the Noco extension out of the equation, my smart plug shows it isn't pulling any wattage.

Is there a maximum temp the block heater will run at? Tonight isn't particularly cold but it should get down to 20 deg F tomorrow. Any ideas?

Not part of the recall :(

Don't think there is a fuse on this, but I'll check on the cord as well. Everything is external here, not through the fusebox.

Did you installed the block heater yourself?

Nope, factory install
Some engine block heaters have built-in thermostats or thermostatic controls (often in the cord) to activate only below certain cold temperatures (like 0°F/-18°C), while many basic, factory-installed immersion types do not, relying instead on an external timer for efficiency. Both types heat the engine's coolant, but the thermostatically controlled ones save energy and prevent overheating by turning off or not turning on above a set temp, preventing wasted electricity and potential failure

This was my thought but I was wondering if there is any way to determine what this value is on the factory heater. Tomorrow will get down to 20°F but I imagine it's higher than that right?

Got a call into Ford to get it checked out when they can get me a loaner (almost a month from now, woof). Any other insight before then is appreciated.

What I want to know is why we even have to modify this so it’s easy to plug in? I’ve been in AK 35 years, and when you get heaters installed the plug comes out of the grill.

2025 Maverick, usually stays in the garage so I haven’t needed the heater. But it’s going to be out for a few days, so I wanted to plug it in. Had to Google where to even find the plug. Then spent a bunch of time in the dark at 15df trying to find a place to slide a cord through. Yeah, I should’ve checked earlier, but just assumed the plug was tucked in the grill somewhere. Like every other vehicle I’ve had up here.
