I live in the Northeast (Salt) . Is it save to use a power washer to get the salt off the underside of the bed? There are several large electical connectors. You can see the individual wires going into the connectors. Hopefully they are water proof.

Hmm., maybe this is why I have never had the nerve to put the truck on a lift and look at it? Is this wiring mess only under the hybrid or is it under the EB as well?? I am too old to crawl under mine and look..........:):) Thanks!

I would worry more about the salt spray then the fresh water affecting the wiring. Water is always being sprayed when you drive in the rain with no problems, Salt is always a problem look what it does to vehicles where they salt the roads.

Kevin, those connectors are water resistant not water proof. As long as you don't hold a high pressure washer directly on the connector you should be good. I use the underbody spray at the touchless on a regular basis with no problems.
If you tape them up it won't stop a high pressure washer from infiltration but will hold moisture and not allow them to dry maybe leading to corrosion.
People act like Ford just started making trucks.

Best advice for that is wash off salt with pressure washer or hose on wide spray, let dry. Disconnect and coat both sides with dielectric grease then reconnect. Advice on taping is correct, you will trap water and corrosion may result.

Seeing as you live in the salt belt, how come you haven't undercoated your new truck? That way you don't have to be so fussy about cleaning the underside very often. A creeping oil like Krown Fluid Film or lanolin-based products like Cosmoline work really well, and will get in and protect your connectors nicely. Creeping oils also are good on hybrid components.

I never had any issue whatsoever on the connectors on my 2005 Ranger. 18 salt filled winters with high speed Interstate driving and 171K miles later. I am fully expecting the same results with my Maverick.

It does not matter if they are exposed or not. They are not tucked away in a weather proof enclosure. Ever look at the inside of rear portion of the frame of a Ranger that was never undercoated. Solid rust.

Salt spray is driven everywhere when the vehicle is driven 750 miles a week at 75 mph in every conceivable condition the weatherman can throw at you. Now add road brine to the mix just to make life interesting.

Tucking away a connector inside the U channel of the rear of a Gen 3 Ranger amounts to diddly squat if looking for protection from salt.

I compare my Maverick to a Taco all the time. My Maverick is a great truck. Tacomas are gas guzzling over weight over priced under powered rolling slugs.
