Anyone try using the e brake to initiate a slide while moving yet?
I was wondering if it has a nanny that won’t let you use it while moving.
it is raining today , might have to go try it out on the dirt road out front.

I still prefer a hand brake for the parking/e-brake. I too have had two or three occasions where I needed that in an emergency, not to mention the fun of using it in a snow covered empty parking lot. But, that was all years and years ago. Modern vehicles just don’t have the same issues of mid-seventies cars.

I do recommend that with every vehicle, manual, automatic, or eCVT, that you ALWAYS engage the parking brake before putting the vehicle in Park. That one inch roll that you feel when placing the vehicle in Park is actually the transmission stopping the movement. This put a lot of unwanted stress on the transmission, regardless of what time it is.
My MR2 has the handbrake in the center console. Love that, better than the foot brake with the release. Never used the parking brake with any automatic car. But I do with the Mav.

Not using the Parking Brake on a normal automatic is even more damaging than on a manual transmission. Again, that little roll is stressing the transmission each time.

I honestly don’t know the stress that it may or may not put on my eVCT!

It's not as good as brakes, of course, but putting the Hybrid into L will reduce speed quite a bit in an emergency. You'll still get into the accident but it will take a bit longer to get there.

Exactly! It’s also a bit startling when the vehicle rolls a bit until the transmission locks. If only I can convince my wife to use it on her car.

Yep, hand break in the center is definitely Fast and Furious style. 😄

And it hurts the transmission a little more each time.

It's a shame that C8 Corvettes have no manual trans and an electric parking brake. Something not right about that. I guess many cars of that type are like that now.

This is my first vehicle with an electric "emergency" brake. When I first got it I didn't care for it. On other vehicles I have used the manual e brake to get to a safe area when my brakes failed. This would be impossible with the Mav as you cannot modulate the force applied. This has happened maybe 3 times in my 50 years of driving. But now having the Mav for a bit over a year I use it every time I park the car, very easy. In the past I only used the parking brake on manual transmission cars when parking. This was one item I hated when I first got it but like it now.
Sorry, I'm an old guy and I'll trust mechanical things because you can SEE and TOUCH them! How many of us are having battery problems and all they do is tell us to drive more and you know it's because there are so many electronic things that are ON 24/7 and the PROGRAM has a comma(,) or dash(-) or an asterisk(*) in the wrong place or missing.
I got the Maverick because I wanted a front wheel drive Ford truck!

I agree but afraid those days are gone when it comes to modern cars.

Yes the electric parking brake is convenient but ever since my 1958 VW bug, I used the hand lever brake to assist in steering the vehicle when driving in snow. Have you ever watched drifting autos steer using two levers? Well one works very well also. I miss it but do not expect it to return. Yeah I know it can be rigged to do it but won’t even try to rig it up myself or using someone named Jerry.
