After a little googling I found this.

Interesting. You're right, it's well hidden by Ford.

Evidently standard on F150's (but not Ranger), and on Bronco Sport (where they call it Electronic Brake Assist - separate from the elec. parking brake). And strangely also standard on Maverick Hybrids.

Pretty cool stuff

Any car or truck running either a Diesel or a supercharged or turbocharged engine has little or no manifold vacuum to operate power brakes so electric booster is required. Electric power steering too. Diesels used to have a external vacuum pump because they have no manifold vacuum.
