Wife went to run an errand this morning and the truck turned over slow and started clicking.

Jump pack got us running again.

Any idea how the dealer will handle this? Is this a quick in and out?

2022 EB purchased in 7/22.

It depends on the dealer. The long term solution is to install an AGM battery. The flooded cell Ford battery is junk. Some reported their dealer replacing it 3x with another Ford battery. In my case I took it in to them 3x, leaving it overnight twice, and they said they couldn't figure out the issue, that the battery was good. In the end they blamed it on my radar detector, which was unplugged and couldn't have caused it. Finally after reading threads on the issue, I bought an AGM battery and have had zero issues since. Before doing so I tested the amperage draw and it was normal, below 50 mA. I charged the Ford battery overnight and it wouldn't hold more than 11.75 volts, which is a bad battery. Took it back to the dealer last week and told them. The service manager made excuses why according to their tests it's not considered a bad battery. I have zero trust for my local dealer. Next time I'll take it to another dealer. And this will be my last Ford.

Original Ford battery is not capable of handling the load of the Maverick.

For those stating that having a AGM battery is the answer, I'm sorry to dispute that theory. Both my 22 Corsair as well as my 23 Maverick both came with AGM's from the factory. Being retired and owning 3 vehicles I don't drive very far on most days, however, I drive each vehicle at least every 3 days.

MY Start/stop hasn't worked on either since last Fall. I constantly was getting the Low Battery notice on my App.
I charged the batteries in both vehicles several times. Within 2 weeks, both were down to 40-50%.
I took both vehicles to the dealer last week . I had a lengthy conversation with both Service advisors, one who has worked with Ford for 21 years. Of course, the first thing they said was to drive more, which is the BS that Ford propagates. I told them that I have/had many vehicles different brands/models which never encountered the battery issue until I purchased Ford products. The Senior advisor told me that the vehicle is in constant communication with the app. which I responded is ridiculous unless the app is in use by the owner.

Anyway, both batteries would not hold a charge and thus were replaced. Since then, both vehicles start/stop now works again. Based on the comment from the advisor about the constant communication, I disabled the feature from both vehicles as well as the app. When you think about it, the App only gives you redundant info that you can get from your dash anyway.

You're right that just switching to AGM isn't the answer. Other considerations:

a) a GOOD battery (AGM or FC) is part of the answer. No doubt whatever battery Ford supplies (FC or AGM) will be a cheap battery not designed to last more than 3 years, when the B2B warranty expires.

b) I've read here that the BMS is programmed to stop charging at 80%. I forget the advantage that only charging to 80% on a lead/acid battery has, but unless it's a deep cycle battery, it's designed to last longer when kept at full capacity. You can use FORSCAN to program it to charge to 95-100%, which I intend to do.

c) I also read that an AGM battery can charge up to 5 times faster than a regular flooded cell battery, which would make a difference when you're mainly making short trips to town. The fact that some people report no issues could have to do with the fact they have a longer drive to work each day.

Update: took it to the dealer and they replaced it with a new AGM battery. In and out in about 2hrs.

want to give thanks for Bryan and Ghandi at Gator Ford in Seffner, FL for always being super nice and accommodating.

Lucky you, you have an honest dealer. Western Slope Ford in Grand Junction Colorado couldn't give a rat's anus and does everything they can to get out of warranty support. I've heard the same from others.

Some of the Ford AGM batteries are defective too. I would recommend a Die Hard or Interstate AGM batteries.

A good AGM battery will make a difference. A good flooded battery with at least 470 CCA will make a difference. The issue is the type of battery that is being installed in the Maverick can't handle the load (flooded or AGM). Most have seen that the batteries seem to be cheaply made or faulty. I'm just going by what I have read in here. And if you don't reset the battery control setting (BMS setting, its in your manual on how to do it) after you put in the new battery, you will run into the same issues.

With the original golf cart battery that came with my truck, I would get "sleep mode" messages from my app even after driving from the OC to Apple Valley and back. Didn't matter how much I drove the Maverick. I knew I was in trouble when I would double click my key fob and none of the interior lights would come on, nor the truck bed lights. Eventually, the battery would go dead. Tried doing all the recharge crap and the "trickle charge" route, but the battery would eventually die.

I bought on my own a Die Hard T4 470 CCA 585CA 70 minute reserve capacity battery. I installed it. Reset the BMS and solved the problem. I have had two "sleep messages" since replacing the battery in January. But the funny thing is, when I go to my truck and double click my key fob, all the lights come on, as with before, the sleep message would follow the truck being completely dark upon clicking my key fob. So for me, its a win.

I might add, that I didn't find out about the merits of getting an AGM battery untill after I installed my flooded battery. So, I will most likely get one later this year. This has been my experience, but I truly feel that for most of us, this solves the problem.

yo doug - i know you all are having hybrid 12v battery issues but this is an ecoboost thread.

what load is being put on the battery in an ecoboost besides auto start/stop? Ive had that disabled since almost day one.

with the hybrid i assume ford has some wacky stuff going on - but with an ecoboost its either telematics modem or auto start/stop. i agree its just ford putting in crappy batteries - but I dont think its the load - just the crappy battery quality.

This plus limiting the charge to 80 percent. Which makes you wonder why. After much reading on the subject, it appears that it's to boost fuel economy by lessening the load on the alternator. Likewise with auto start stop. These are ways to increase fuel economy without actually making the engine more fuel efficient.
