I put 90,000 on a 2015 Escape 2.0 EB and never took it to the dealer for anything. I also drove it like I stole it, burn the front tires all the way though 1st and part way through 2nd. M1 oil changes every 7500 miles, Great Car!
and from wikipedia:

2.0 L (2010–2015)

This engine is derived from the 2.0 L Mazda L engine block used by Ford in the North American Focus MK3, but equipped with unique heads, fuel injection system, and Ford's Ti-VCT. It should not be confused with the Mazda 2.3 DISI Turbo, which also features direct injection along with turbocharging, but shares little else aside from the same engine block.
no wonder you had a reliable engine - it was a mazda designed motor.

the maverick eb 2.0 is not.

It is almost identical, some internal changes, twin scroll turbo and modified cast-in exhaust manifold to match the turbo.
What engine does the Maverick have?
What motor did mazda design, the starter, windshield wiper.......

For reference I have over 25k miles on my AWD EcoBoost Maverick so far and it’s been trouble free (at least the engine itself has). My rear diff was replaced a couple months ago around 19k miles, and as long as that’s my only major repair then I’m satisfied. Small teething issues will always occur on first model year vehicles and I knew to expect that before I even placed my order

Losing a rear diff is not trouble free for any vehicle with 19k miles.

I said the engine was trouble free, since the OP was asking specifically about the EcoBoost, which has been trouble free.

Yeah believe me Ford got an earful from me about the rear diff

What happened with rear diff? Even with the AWD that is a pretty robust truck part

Wish they still made flatheads. Could rebuild it yourself with a hammer and a crescent wrench. Mill the head with a belt sander and Bob's your uncle.

Ford took over the EB motor design from 2013/2015 and up - and in that time created a massive problems.

March 28, 2021 — A Ford class action lawsuit alleges EcoBoost engine problems exist in 2013-2019 Ford Escape, 2015-2019 Ford Edge, 2017-2019 Lincoln MKC and 2017-2019 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. The alleged Ford EcoBoost engine issues allegedly occur in 1.5L, 1.6L and 2.0L vehicles which cause engine coolant to leak into the cylinders.
So - to be clear - when it was the Mazda designed block it didnt have these issues. The Focus ST block specifically was very stout.

However Ford's rendition got Ford slapped with a class action lawsuit.

However - we're running a revised version of Ford's block - that hopefully doesnt have this issue - but the point being - we dont know if this motor is going to be reliable or not.

Driving low speeds it was noticeable turning in either direction. It sounded like a 4x4 where someone forgot to unlock the diffs after returning to street driving, you could feel the truck resist turning sharply. Anywho they drained the rear diff and the fluid was black and glittery, so it was replaced. Ironically the rental that was provided was a Chevy Colorado 😂
Needless to say I’m working with my salesman on getting a deal on an extended warranty (since dealing with Ford directly was a waste of time after they reached out to me on here) in case it wasn’t a one off.
I do have a payload of around 1000lbs in the truck every day. I’ve never actually driven my truck without a payload yet, so thought maybe it was over stressed and can’t handle ‘heavy’ payloads. But I wanted the fuel economy since I knew gas was going up (even a year ago when the order banks opened) and I’m still well within the payload limits so I’m hoping it was just a bad part from the supplier or the pre-load wasn’t set correctly.
