Ecoboost 42 MPG!

I was very surprised at how efficient this little truck is. Anyone else getting these numbers?

I did a round trip from south Texas to Orlando Florida with local trip of 116.4 miles.
total miles 2850
Total time 55:18
Average MPG was 29.2 over all.
Best mpg I got was 30 with hard tonneau cover. Strong head winds all the way to Florida and low head winds back.

We if you add the 26.9 and the 195, the mark tells me you’re getting 221 miles to a tankful. Not good at all

Currently in my hybrid I am getting 49.7 mpg. That is running my normal 52 mile commute. This has been for the last 2 months. I will take that all day long. My brother has a plug in hybrid escape and I'm within 10 mpg with him. My commute is mixed highway/town driving so I'm traveling between 35 and 60 mph.

Very similar to what I get ecoboost with 4k tow package over 10k now on the odometer very happy. Have had up to 35 on flat highway trips.

Mine needs a highway run. 955 miles and averaging 21.5 mpg so far…

I monitored two trip meters. Trip 1, I let accumulate about 2700 miles and the other about 2200 miles. Both settled at about 30.5 and 30.3 mpg. Based on the elapsed time and mileage, the speed averaged about 36-38 mph. This was all in ECO mode. So for comparison, I reset one the other day and after about 260 miles, similar commuting and use, I am seeing about 30 mpg in NORMAL mode. I suspect that will drop a little, and if I had to guess, the difference in ECO and NORMAL mode would be about 1-2 mpg. I completed a couple 180 mile trips before I let the trip odometers run, and I was seeing about 33-34 mpg based on about 90% hwy @ 75 mph/10% slow, stop and go. I wanted to include screen shots but don't have them. Lastly, FWIW, I usually keep my tires about 2 psi above recommended.

How do you have Eco mode on with an FX4 4 K package?? Did you Forscan it?

With my daily drive and tire setup, it's closer to 26MPG. I can take a trip to ID on their highways and get 28, which would be 30 with the stock tires and exactly what I got when driving it home, but the KO2's in 245/65R17 took that much. It was expected and still better than my previous Tacoma running 285/70R17's getting maybe 15-17MPG on a good day even with a tune and a gear swap lol.

I have no doubts on perfect road conditions you can squeeze every bit out of the EB, same as Hyrbid owners do with theirs and report excess of 40MPG. With my previous Escape Hybrid, it was 36 for me and 38 maybe 39 on longer highway trips. Never hit 40 in the almost 2 years of ownership. If I was somewhere flat I have no doubt I could have squeezed well above 40 on a hybrid.

Also keep in mind the dash is lying. It's usually off by anywhere from 1-4 MPG's even for people with stock tire setups. Some report it being close, but most see it being pretty far off. Use fuelly (or do the manual calculations) to get a more accurate reading.

Either way... still waiting for that 4WD Tremor Hybrid

On the highway / at high speeds, the two truck engines perform NEARLY THE SAME.

No big surprise.
Same size and weight of vehicle.
Nearly same size displacement engines.

Towing; the EcoBoost is
slightly better.

The hybrid really shines in Stop n Go and Slow n Go conditions, where fuel economy will be double, and high horsepower isn't needed.

Myself and another user both pulled a similar trailer a similar distance over similar roads. More than 2500 miles each.

He got 19 MPG in his EcoBoost.
I got 18 MPG in my hybrid.

I don't really believe it but the dash told me this morning I averaged 60 MPG on my commute. It is fairly low speed (<50mph) without too many stops but 60 MPG seems really high.

It's possible I guess, I averaged 34 MPG on a road trip a few weeks ago, I was driving up and down hills and mountains and had the air conditioner on for most of that trip. If could drive on flat land, like Kansas for example with the air conditioner off and eco mode on then I bet it could get nearly 40 MPG. Thats with all the planets aligned and the wind at your back.

Regardless, this thing gets nearly the same and sometimes better gas mileage that the little hatchback versa that I replaced it with.

At my 56 years of age I drive very "spirited" 80-85 mph on some california freeways, up mountain passes, hard accelerations to spool up that ecoboost turbo 2-WD-I change oil and rotate tires every 4500 miles - I'm the guy that will race you in your 5.0 mustang if you want and I have averaged 27 mpg over 13,000 miles - I suppose if I drove the speed limit I can pick up a few MPGs0 But like Sammy Haggar says - "I can't drive 55 !!!
